The mother, Luz Cuevas, had been told the child died in a fire six years ago in Pennsylvania, but she discovered the girl allegedly had been kidnapped by a family acquaintance and was living not far away.

The child, named Delimar, was 10 days old when her mother last saw her in December 1997. Cuevas saw the girl, now 6, at a birthday party in January and was struck by the child's resemblance to her and her other children. A DNA test proved Cuevas was the child's mother.

The mom told the little girl she was going to remove some bubble gum from her hair... took several strands of hair and had them DNA tested... it was her daughter...

Though it won't be an easy thing for the first few years, I'm glad mother and daughter are reunited.

Cuevas said Delimar became hysterical when told that Correa was not her mother but has since calmed down and is beginning to adjust to the news.

Can you imagine what this poor little girl has gone through? Horrible for her, this crime that her fake mommy commited goes far beyond what a simple kidnapping does. It is monstrous, I hope she sits in prison for a looong time..

Cruz and Cianfrani said a communication barrier between the mother and child -- Cuevas speaks little English and her daughter speaks no Spanish -- will be an easy one to overcome.

What the heck has this woman been waiting for?! She has been here for at least six years, and she speaks very little English? LEARN THE FRIGGIN LANGUAGE WOMAN! SHeesh...

My parents learned english in the first year after having moved to the the USA, so being an immigrant is no excuse..

Why didn't this happen immediately? Were there issues?

According to another article I read, the mother and father aren't on speaking terms, the kidnapper is related to the father, and there is some suspicion that the father and/or other members of his family may also have been involved in the arson/kidnapping/subsequent concealment.

Beautiful eyes, beautiful smiles, both of them. Prayer on the way for this little girl and her mother.

Well, she apparently couldn't be botheredeither with marrying first and then conceiving the daughter.
