Oh Crap!

We danced at a coffee house the other night and the proceeds went to a name on the list (Middle East Children's Alliance). To make matters worse, after doing some digging, I found that the MECA director is on also on an ANSWER governing something-er-other.

I just sent the pictures from the March, NY ANSWER protest and the article tying MECA directly to ANSWER to the organizer of the event (and why I can't support any further events tied to this group).

Like I said in my original post to you though, how can you seriously call into question visual evidence of someone's position and call that "evidence" of your position? Are there fake photographs? Sure you bet there are, like the ones that were circulated around last week claiming to show rapes of Iraqi women by US soldiers. But you know what tough guy?

They were PROVEN to be faked.

Anyone can say, "That picture's a fake". Anyone can do that. But that hardly qualifies as a strong rebuttal. One needs PROOF of that statement, for it to carry any weight.

So go ahead, keep calling it a fake, bury your head in the sand and do whatever else you need to do to deny the truth that doug from upland has told you. I'm done.

I've been in the military and I've been in Vietnam, and I've seen soldiers openly disagree with their country's foreign policy. I've also seen what their "brothers" think of them. They are not going to be trusted in the face of danger, and they are therefore incapable of doing their job.

This was common in Vietnam, and the results show. The malcontents shoot everything in sight, then go home and claim that atrocities are being committed.

Where did I suggest reading minds? I said malcontents in the military are not trusted. Not being trusted automatically disqualifies you from doing your job.

Now, concerning Vietnam, nearly everyone I knew in the Army hated LBJ and his management of the war. Very few, however, hated America or thought the Communists were morally equivalent.

The problem with identifying who's a threat, who's a malcontent, and who's simply upset... is that disagreeing with the status quo or current leadership is often perceived as being "anti-american", as if towing the party line was ever a requirement for being a patriot (quite the opposite in fact).

Ultra-liberals (ie the most extreme and vocal democrats) have tended to resort to ad hominem attacks and concentrate their entire platform on hatemongering against Bush. But Ultra-conservatives (the most extreme and vocal republicans) have shown just as disturbing a tendency to label anyone not on their side as a traitor, anti-american, or communist.

I think our country would function more efficiently if more people were centrists... pick and choose from the issues, instead of picking a side and going on a crusade against... whatever.

Perhaps not to US, but how about you ask our rabid little enemies, the sons of the Moon God?

According to them, the world is divided between believers and infidels, between the House of Islam and the House of War.
According to them, they are absolutely right, and we are absolutely wrong.
According to them, there is to be no peace until all of the people of the world submit to Allah and Sharia law.

In other words: Black and White.

None of this requires anything so esoteric as reading minds to learn - try simply reading the collected suriyah of the Koran and hadith of the Sunnah; try simply reading AlJazeera; try simply reading the (unfiltered, unspun) news of what they actually do, to be found outside of the usual alphabet-news channels.

For a struggle to become void of nuance, unsullied by gray areas, all that is required is for ONE SIDE of the conflict to see things in black and white absolutism.

They DO.
Thus, this war IS black and white. Cut and dried. Kill them or be killed by them.

All you or any other denizen of "the house of war" needs to understand is summed up in my tagline.

This is war is not about what we are fighting FOR - it is about what we are fighting AGAINST.

Get that through your thick, tiny, vacuum-containing skull.
