CRANK UP THE PRAYERS! WE'RE SEEING MIRACLES!
I'm not sure where to begin. I shared about the dream Norman had about being given a choice of going with the "man" or staying here to live.
Last Saturday, they put Norman into Hospicecare. They essentially sent him there to die. I called the children and had them fly in to say their goodbyes. All came running. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday Norman couldn't even open up his eyes. He couldn't talk other than grunt. It looked about as dire as it can get.
On Monday nite, we (the family) started giving him his power drinks...loaded with vitamins and minerals plus calories. On Tuesday morning, we did the same and he came out of it. He could open his eyes, knew who everyone was, and could talk a bit to the kids. By Wednesday we had him eating food..very small amounts, but food never the less. By Thursday morning, we went in to feed him only to find him sitting up in bed feeding himself oatmeal.
He can feed himself twice a day now...HATES the hospice food! LOL So I'm cooking things and taking it. I got him to eat 9 noodles and a bit of beef with each forkfull. He continues to improve. In fact, he's improved so much, they're throwing him out of Hospice and into a Nursing Home.
I've been busy checking them out. His Doctors are meeting to begin treating him again.
His head nurse, a Christian male told me that when he went into medicine, he knew he'd be seeing a couple of miraculous cases during his career. It's now 18 years later, and Norman is his first case. He told me that what he's seeing is way beyond medicine. I knew that. LOL I knew his kidneys were failing and I knew that that meant his organs would begin shutting down one by one.
Dan has requested to stay on the case, so he will follow Norman and care for him at the Nursing home. He's amazed.
It's not one of those one shot miracles where they jump up. But his recovery is a miracle none the less. He continues to improve on a daily basis. His goal is to sit in a chair. He can pull himself up and side to side now. The pain is still there but diminishing.
I just don't know what it means, or if it will be a full recovery. I'm trying to take it a day at a time...sometimes a minute at a time. Nothing in life can prepare you for this kind of devastation. But we now have hope. And I think we've got some time.
I apologize for this delayed update. I've had a house full of kids and the truth is I'm just so tired when I get home that I can't write. Hopefully the exhaustion will pass.
I wanted to thankyou all, each and every one of you for praying for him. Please keep Norman in your prayers! We need to see continued recovery and hopefully, that mass on his lung and the blood clots will be gone one of these days. I want him home again. I want to share the rest of my life with him.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Eternal Warming
