March 5 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. may ease fingerprinting rules for Mexicans entering the country, a White House spokesman said before President George W. Bush welcomed Mexican President Vicente Fox for election-year talks at his Texas ranch.

Bush in January proposed temporary work permits for millions of immigrants by allowing workers to fill U.S. jobs Americans don't want. Republicans such as Representative Tom Tancredo of Colorado oppose it. House Speaker Dennis Hastert, an Illinois Republican, hasn't been prodded by the White House to act on the proposal, Hastert spokesman John Feehery said.

This is kind of interesting to read next to that Amish story where an Amish guy isn't being let into the USA. We'll insist on photographing Amish USA citizens but Fox says no for Mexican citizens and Fox wins every time.

Once the anchor baby is born --- and that is the reason for many of these "visits" over the border, there won't be any going back, after leaving the hospital with the new USA citizen, next stop is the welfare office.

Well of course. The Amish aren't really a strong future voting block now are they?

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, representing 3 million U.S. businesses, everyone from restaurants and hotels to contractors and manufactures, is the main proponent of a guest worker program. It would remove the threat of raids on illegal workers

When you legalize the current activities of the criminals there will be no need for raids to find criminals

There's a good example in today's paper of what some Mexicans do in their "short visits" to the USA --- and why they don't want photographs and fingerprints taken:

2 Juarenses arrested after failed burglary

Two Juárez men were arrested after a police patrol allegedly saw them breaking into a Chevrolet Suburban about 3 a.m. Friday in West El Paso.

Eduardo Gonzalez, 30, and Alejandro Hernadez, 17, fled in a pickup from the 200 block of Bartlett and were later stopped on Interstate 10, police said.

Each man was charged with two counts of burglary of a vehicle. Gonzalez was also charged with DWI and evading arrest. Hernandez was also charged with cocaine possession.

(You can bet these guys aren't underprivileged farm workers --- they've got border crossing passes and own their own vehicle.)
