[history]
Federal election officials proposed new rules Thursday that could sharply curb the activities of private political groups intent on influencing this year's presidential election.
Although the action by the Federal Election Commission is not final, it drew objections from non-profit groups allied with Democrats who fear that continuing legal uncertainty will dampen their fundraising.

Right now, the Democrats are the party of anarchy and as many as possible should be arrested. I think that is what they want to happen

"I will vote for President Bush this Fall, but his failure to veto the Campaign Finance "Reform" Act is very disappointing."

I think he didn't veto it, because he had made a deal with McCain, and thought that the Supreme Court will strike it down, but they didn't.
This just shows we need more conservatives in the US Courts.
I sometimes use an alternate tagline: "it's the judges, stupid" -- Re-elect Bush and send more Republicans to Congress.
That's the only way we can stop the shift towards more and more "legislating" from the bench, and judges ignoring the law.
There were a couple of other pretty outrageous Supreme Court decisions -- I think one was about the death penalty, when Sandra Day O'Connor, IFRC, mentioned the international laws or something like that.

If this comes to pass, the Dems asked for it! Campaign finance reform passed, and it delegated numerous powers to the FEC. They're just doing their job now...

you just don't get it do you?
what the fcc rules is meaningless.
get it straight.
Gay marriage is illegal in every place the libbies are pushing it. Period.
Do they obey that law?
HELL NO. Dems and liberals have zero intent to obey any law that separates them from whatever it is they want, unless it involves pain, incarceration, high fines or imprisonment or death...
Unless this has TEETH in it, it matters not one whit WHATEVER they rule, threaten or legislate. Dems know they will skate. They will not obey... of course the goody two shoes among us will strain at the gnats to obey every jot and title ad infinitum, ad absurdum, while they ram the camel's humps so far up our kazookas we get nosebleeds....
Laws mean NOTHING to dems.
In there world there simply is "NO controlling legal authority." Pass me the preparation H.

Exactly. That's the problem.
See post 11 -- they actually said they will ignore the law.

It's more and more looking like a considerable number of conservatives are going to have to go to jail or die commiting "hate crimes," because LEO's and their agencies are NOT going to enforce the laws on the books about anything.
Why should anybody obey the laws.
The state, city and county officials don't.
Political party leadership, running for political offices don't do it or require it of their followers. In fact they hire thugs to break the rules for them and go to jail FOR them so they can get their way.
Thugs have been known to die in jail, for the good of the dem party. McDougal sound familiar?
They will fine folks a half a mil for a subjective flash of one bare nipple... but violate the law regarding MAJOR political issues... "no controlling legal authority."
and no fines to speak of either.

I'm reminded of the protests in the 60's ... We need to find a way to not give them what they want but yet still enforce the laws.
There is an old saying that cooler heads will prevail .. problem is, I don't have one right now .. I'm too ticked

"I understand that. But along with keeping out MoveOn.org, they'll silence half of America..as if CFR wasn't bad enough."I'm against McCain-Feingold and always was. But the bottomline is that what passed and is law gave a certain advantage to Republicans due to the traditionally larger influx of small donations. If 527's are allowed then we will fight fire with fire and will have every legal right to do as such. I don't think they will be because of the professed advocacy by Soros and his ilk to defeat W, a clear end-run around the election laws that now apply. This issue may not be settled before the end of the game this time around but it will be clarified and Conservatives will still maintain the upperhand no matter what the outcome.

There is an old saying that cooler heads will prevail ..That old saying assumes that both parties are bound by some sort of ethical code. For example, in a robbery, you may stay calm...but the robber (who has no respect for the law) might just decide to shoot you anyway. Thus, the cooler head did not prevail.
When you are talking about people who have no ethics, and are willing to commit crimes to further their own purposes, they will generally prevail.
These people needed to be slapped down LONG ago...and I have always been disappointed with our party for not doing so. This "reaching out" crap has got to stop...it only emboldens them.

I love the Democrats being hoist on their CFR petard. Its time for them to shut up and obey a law they voted for.

We NEED to reach out.
We also need to reach out and KNOCK THE BEJESUS out of them, if they don't respond.
We are way past that point.
Why should YOU or I obey any laws we take a fancy to breaking?
I had a guy run a red light on us tonight.
His light was red, had been red for at least 35 seconds or more, and mine had been green. he just decided to go.
WHY should he obey the law? The city of portland and the county of multnomah are marrying gays faster than you can scratch your own, er, backside...
If the laws mean nothing, they mean nothing to all of our society... traffic, civil or criminal, it's no big deal.
These are becoming very dangerous times.
Liberals are striving to generate some real flash points.
It would not surprise me if some liberal nutcake were to off himself with a nail bomb in a public place, just to try and get things to boil over.

FEC proposes plan to curb political groupsIf you had told me 10 years ago that I would see a headline like this in America, I would have told you that you were insane. "This is America, not the former Soviet Union," I would have angrily declared.
Yes, this helps our side -- this time. Later on, it will be our ox that is Gored.
The Bill of Rights is, quite simply, dead. The freedoms we presently possess are merely an echo of a former time.
