Gibson's Blood Libel
By Charles Krauthammer Friday, March 5, 2004; Page A23
Every people has its story. Every people has the right to its story. And every people has a responsibility for its story. ...[snip]
Christians have their story too: the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Why is this story different from other stories? Because it is not a family affair of coreligionists. If it were, few people outside the circle of believers would be concerned about it. This particular story involves other people. With the notable exception of a few Romans, these people are Jews. And in the story, they come off rather badly.
Because of that peculiarity, the crucifixion is not just a story; it is a story with its own story -- a history of centuries of relentless, and at times savage, persecution of Jews in Christian lands. This history is what moved Vatican II, in a noble act of theological reflection, to decree in 1965 that the Passion of Christ should henceforth be understood with great care so as to unteach the lesson that had been taught for almost two millennia: that the Jews were Christ killers.

Seems to me that using that "donkey" got a bit misrepresented in the modern era.
Our Heavenly Father uses whom and whatever He chooses to fulfill His plan, as it is written.

re: In addition to the disdain and disgust eminating from so many toward Christians, there's also the added insult of condescension. Well, just because Christians support Israel doesn't mean that they're too stupid to realize the contempt in which they are held.
To: af_vet_1981
You seem to keep repeating this train of thought. There is no need to pretend to be a supporter of Israel. People are not that dense. Just declare yourself to be an adversary and move on.
Your bigotry is showing, and it bothers you that folks are noticing. In fact, you take their notice as more cause for your bigotry. Despite it all, unapologetic Christians will simultaneously reject your bigotry, even as we continue to be friends to Jews and to Israel. We're not going to stop our support so that you will feel more comfortable with yourself.

It also proves that he absolutely does not understand Christianity. Of course, as a Christian, I don't know much about Judaism either.Excellent observation. That may be the root of the problem. Instead of finger-pointing wouldn't it be great to "cross-train" in both religions for better understanding on both sides?

They're wasting their time. Never happen. Why don't you leave these matters to the professionals in the GOP. They get paid for their work in politics, they don't just blow smoke at posting forums. To quote President Bush, it's better left up the uniters, not the dividers.

Anyone (like Krauthammer) who opines that civilized societies should be disarmed, except for the police and military, is worse than a lowlife creep. The racist Krauthammer supports genocide, and wants the victims disarmed. It's simple enough to understand.
Like the Jewish leadership of Warsaw who cooperated with the Nazis by sending others to the *work* camps as directed, he'll gladly sell out his fellow Jews, especially those in Israel, and anyone else, in hopes they'll come for him last.

Krauthammer is typical of those in the closet Jews who occasionally come out to cast aspersions on Christians. He isn't going to win this fight by trying to saddle Christians with Hitler's sins. What he ought to be doing is examing why his people always seem to be someones victims.

After seeing the actual movie, I went back a second time to view it from a different perspective.
I looked for anything anti-Semitic in any way possible.
There was nothing to be found. Krauthammer fans will have to view his column with a bit more scrutiny after this column.

Why do you suppose we waited as long as we did to enter the European war? Why did Roosevelt send a shipload of Jews back to the gas chambers before we entered the war?

They're wasting their time. Never happen. ;-) I really wish it would happen. I still wish it would happen, but I think I'm getting why the majority of Jewish Americans vote Democrat -- low Christian tolerance.
And while I can understand the apprehension and suspicion of some Jews towards Christians it doesn't benefit anyone.
It's sad.

The description is accurate. Your hostility to Christianity and to Christians is evident in your posts, in which you have personally attacked Christians who resent the smears of anti-Semitism that have been tossed around irresponsibly. Quit spitting at your friends.
