No.. huh??

I was alone. I was eating breakfast, watching TV and I had a cough. I coughed while I had a mouthful of barely chewed hamburger meat (I was out of sausage) and something blocked my windpipe. There was nothing coming in or out, not even the tiniest wheezing.

I whacked myself on the back and kept trying to force some air out (or into) my lungs. At one point I was able to breathe in a bit but nothing would come out.

Finally, I somehow coughed it out and was able to breathe again. I still choked a bit until I was able to cough it all up.

I was tired and my body was tingling all over. I was really weak!! My cat was freaked out.

This all probably took a minute. Felt like forever.

I am likely alive by sheer luck or maybe God has a plan for me to die somewhere else... lol..

Ouch... as an EMT, I diagnose that you had a very lucky escape!

If you were tingling and weak, you were probably very close to passing out and nobody could have helped you :-(

Scary! Both my wife and I have had similar episodes.

We have taken turns saving each others lives, it seems.

Neither one of us has all our teeth and steak can be problematic.

Next time throw yourself forward over the back of a chair, hitting your diaphram several times to mimic the Heimlich maneuver.

You can heimlich yourself with a table corner. Hurts, but it works.
