WORST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY
Kalona News ^ | Feb 15, 2004 | Ethel Bontrager

Posted on 03/03/2004 1:45:51 PM PST by 11th_VA

The following appeared in the Durham, N.C., local paper as a letter to the editor on Feb. 15, 2004.

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point: We didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11!

Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims:

FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled Al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.

Worst president in history? Think about it!

Not to mention Iraq never attacked us

Tell that to the US pilots who were being shot at for years in the no-fly zones.

People forget how bad things were in 1980.

And good threads never die! The only good thing Jimmy Carter did, was to get Democrats to leave the party and sign up as Republicans. I converted from the party of evil because of the peanut-man. As a young man I was trying to raise a family, and double-digit inflation and a screwed-up economy made it very difficult.

During President Reagan's time in the White House things went very well for me and my family. Reagan is the greatest president of the 20th century; and Carter is the worst.

I remember my old man once said he couldn't stand FDR (and he was a WWII vet). He also said he couldn't stand the Kennedys - any of them. As a kid (publik skools) I couldn't believe it; FDR - leader of the free world through the dark days of WWII. JFK - America's Idol - slain by a madman.

Of course it took me awhile to come to realize my old man was right.

I agree…. Woodrow Wilson is the worst president in history.

Wilson gave us the Federal Reserve, Federal Trade Communion, Federal Farm act and was in the KKK set up laws that created the racists hate we have today (race relations where getting good before he got into office.)

Wilson got us into WWI then created the treaty of Versailles which he got the noble peace prize yet because of that treaty we entered WWII. He created the Bryan-Chamorro Treaty which destabilized central America. The list just goes on.

Worst: Buchanan? FDR? Johnson? Clinton?

I can't believe you left out Carter. I would put him over all four of those. I am not sure FDR was all that bad except gave social security which was necessary at the time to feed the citizens. I am not a compassionate conservative unless the situation is extreme. The Depression was bad for the entire country and no body had a dime to there names except perhaps the Kennedy's.
