Bush got more votes in California than Kerry did!!

Just an interesting tidbit I noticed while perusing the results of the CA primary.

GW Bush received 1,949,746 votes, while Kerry received only 1,764,436. Sure, I know the President was unchallenged while Kerry had competition, but even all the Dem voters combined didn't tally that far ahead of President Bush. I though California was unwinnable for the President and that they were turning out in droves to 'send him a message'.

LOL

God I hope that you are right. Just curious but what brought you to this conclusion? I am getting jittery and would like reassurance

Because history shows that Kerry should have a double digit lead over Bush at this point. There is no passion for Kerry just anger at Bush.

Something that Common Tator keeps saying keeps coming back to me: the Democratic regulars aren't jazzed. The Base is all ginned up, but the regulars aren't enthused.

That's the hidden story of this primary season, and I don't think the press wants to report that right now. They want a Bush/Kerry horserace. They also want Kerry to win. They don't want to admit that they've been peddling Kerry's water for him and selling genuine, 100% bovine feces to the public. I'm counterintuitive about this whole thing, especially when the talking heads scream "divided electorate". I'm still saying Bush by five points.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Actually, for the primary, indy voters here in CA have to check a box at the top of the ballot, Republican or Democrat, before they vote for candidates, so you can bet that alot of the green weinies etc voted for the dem of their choice.

"at which point the wet thuds of Democrats jumping off of roofs will drown out all other sounds in Washington."

Syncopate the action and play boogie woogie for me. Eight to the bar.

This state is packed with ninnie democrats. Yesterday AM at the pole in our neighborhood, there were 4 boxes of Dem ballots versus 2 boxes of Rep ballots. It makes me just sick.

The majority of the people in this state want socialism. I don't know if it's ignorance or malice.

Bush got more votes in California than Kerry did!!

When the constant drumbeat around here is how California is all liberals, is that good?

"Considering that the GOP nomination is unopposed, that would depress turnout in GOP primary. Since the Dems had a contested primary, their turnout was expected to be higher.

What is the total DEM vote versus Bush? If that is close, then maybe CA is in play. Remember, many Bush supporters did not case ballots since his nomination is a "given".

You're correct. But I'm registered as Libertarian and therefore could only vote Libertarian. I don't know any libertarian who would vote Dimocrap.

I made this observation last night on another thread but for a "fired up" Democrat turnout like CNN is reporting, there were only in the neighborhood of 7.5 million votes cast yesterday TOTAL in the 10 states. That ain't what I'd call "fired up".

One of those Laroche votes is me.

I already had a rat ballot before I discovered Sharpton wasn't on it.

I wonder how many other Republican's for Sharpton those votes reflect?

it is the "anger at Bush" part that frightens me the most
hate is a good motivator and the sheer animosity thrown at the President is scary
couple with that with conservatives complaining about him and it gives me enough cause for concern

I don't want to seem like a naysayer here, but Bush did run unopposed. It's only natural that he'd get more votes.

Except that voting for him approaches being pointless.
