Al Rantel and Larry Elder are on KABC with Dick Morris. Dick said that the DemocRATS slit their throats tonight. Kerry was not vetted. He will be seen as a Dukakis liberal.

Bush will spend 150 million dollars in ads up to convention time.

It is too late. Kerry will have the delegates and cannot be un-nominated.

Kerry looked like a reasonable candidate after Howard Dean. When his record is exposed, he will be in deep trouble. Bush must not be nice --- he must use negative ads, go after him, and define him.

Possible for Hillary to take VP spot but Dick thinks Kerry may be in so much trouble by convention time that she will run away screaming.

Presumably the Bush team has someone digging through all the old Boston Herald records about Kerry, and spending time with Howie Carr of WRKO radio and The Herald. Howie knows where all the bodies are buried and he's on our side, thank God.

Sounds like SOMEBODY has been reading a little too much of the NYtimes. I have not met a single person(Democrat, Republican or Independent), who likes Kerry, and I live in the Northeast! He is painfully dull and has absolutely no personal appeal outside the New England states. Also this universal "anger" that democrats have for Bush is a complete fabrication. The "hate bush" sentiment is only among the wealthiest 1% that Kerry is always railing against ironically. Working class dems are offended by the hate bush stuff, and African americans are turned off by it. I voted for Gore... do you think I appear to be more anti-bush than 4 years ago? lol

Right now, the average Democrat thinks the Kerry-Edwards ticket beats Bush-Cheney. They think Bush is very vulnerable on WMDs and the idea we shouldn't have invaded Iraq. Politically savvy Democrats know better.

I realize that there are special interests and Urban liberals who hate bush, but they hardly make up 40% of the country. I'd say about 20% of voters can be counted on as the Democrats base(African Americans plus Urban Liberals). The 50-50 notion is baloney.

I think you are underestimating the Dem base. They are like cult members. if the "guru" tells them to hate Bush, they hate Bush. In many cases they don't know why, but they do as they are told.

Interesting Brit Hume interview with Cheney tonight. Cheney discussed Kerry's voting record on defense appropriations over the past twenty years. (Kerry never met a defense weapons system he liked.) Cheney was direct and relentless in his analysis and what it would mean if Botoxboy won the presidency. (We'd be defenseless and naked as jaybirds as fast as Kerry could arrange it.) Cheney is the point man on negative stuff; that's his job during the campaign, and he does it very well. We couldn't get a better vp.

Putting Guliani into play as VP also sets him up for 2008, don't you think? He is VERY popular with the whole country since 9/11, and if Osama gets found this year before the election, this could be a strong pairing and a definate blockade for the witch in 2008.
Taking Cheney out of VP and putting him in as Sec of State and making Powell some sort of Ambassador at large would be a strong move, IMPO.
I have been troubled by Powell's dancing all over the plate on too many important issues. I never could figure out if he was mouthing Bush's stance, or if he was off the reservation. I think Cheney could put a little more spine into some of our positions.
Powell would make a good "General" in getting after Syria with Saddam's money, weapons, and other items. Also, ARAFAT cannot keep breathing forever. All Hell is going to break loose there and keeping Powell steadfastly by the side of Israel could be helpful.
The leader of N Korea isn't going to live forever, either. Working out a relief solution for the starving N Koreans who will still be there when he kicks the bucket would be another strong place for Powell. South Korea CANNOT absorb millions of starving, undereducated and basically unemployable people. They have to be brought back to self-sustaining abilities.

Committed Democrats of nearly every stripe solidly hate Bush. But that does not account for 50%. The 50-50 theory is (I guess) once the candidates jockey for position back and forth a few times, they will scientifically find the natural 50-50 divide that is there.

Morris is full of crap. Bush is not Clinton and must not run his campaign the same way. Yes I know he triangulates with the "New Tone" but Clinton was sleazy and everyone knew it. Morris had to run the early negative tone to get Derslikmeister re-elected to because during his first 3 years he was seen as a disaster. He needed to paint Dole and Gingrich as demons (not a hard job; I feel Dole's douer tone cost Ford in '76 against Peanut Brain). Bush has a much more honest image as well as a more positive message. Bush does not need to do this JUST YET. Against popular belief Bush is not realy behind in the polls. Kerry is a sitting duck and can be pinned down by simply playing up Bush's accomplishments. I would keep the negative powder dry until the fall. Let the Limbaughs and Hannity's of the world keep the flame going. Come late October Bush better be running ads of the Winter Soldier hearings in '73. There is now way that horse faced, monotone phoney can get elected unless Bush and Rove start playing cute and underoverestimate him.

4 years ago the "Dem base" included Myself, Zell Miller, Ed Koch, and millions of others. There is a Dem base, but its not nearly what the press makes it out to be. I'm not suggesting we get cocky... but I also don't like seeing defeatism and statements that could come straight out of Time Magazine(the liberal counterpart to National Review) on FR without being refuted.
