Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that Kerry's base support is paper thin?

The media and pundits are trying to convince us that the democratic party is more unified than ever in defeating GWB, regardless of who the nominee is, but no one is explaining why turnout today in CA and NY was very low. Instead we have Geraldine Ferraro subtly trying to convince Kerry to put a woman on his ticket saying that woman across the US are furious with GWB. She's as out of touch with reality as is Kerry.

With the exception of Iowa and N.H., turnout in the Democrat primaries has been very low in almost every state. I think maybe Wisconsin came close to what was considered a "normal" level but even that fell short by several hundred thousand votes.

The truth is the Democrats hate Bush and that's why they leapt onboard the Kerry bandwagon. We'll see if their hatred and rage against the President is enough to carry their man to victory in November.

That she did. LOL

A day or two ago, I read a VERY interesting article about third/fringe parties. It said that the first time their candidates run (the ones who garner a largish following and vote)like Perot and Nader(but the column mentioned others, from long ago, too)they get some traction, but, BUT, the second time they run, they fall apart completely.

The polls in The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia closed 30 minutes ago.

I believe that! I've maintained since Nader announced intentions of running that he'll basically be irrelevant 6 weeks after he officially jumped into the fray. So, in 5 weeks, Nader will be irrelevant.

Exactly!

Unfortunately, Nader will be completely irrelevant in a month or so.

Both CNN and FOX called it for Kerry when CA polls closed. That's about the extent of all I know so far.

I saw Nader on Meet The Press a week ago, and they could have just as well re-run his January 13, 2002 appearance. Same song and dance.

I assumed Kerry would win CA so that really isn't major news. I was more interested in the Republican Senate nomination and the other issues on the ballot.

I've got access to the Los Angeles network affiliates, but they're deeply ensconced in primetime programming. Los Angeles is notorious for ignoring politics, and unless it's a car chase on the 110 Freeway, they don't cover it.

No one cares. We stopped a stealth tax hike proposal which is indication that even in liberal and Democratic California, people don't want higher taxes. Let's see if the Democratic establishment here absorbs the message. I'd say the big loser tonight is State Treasurer Phil Angelides who has made tax increases his gubernatorial platform for 2006. Its found no takers even in the Democrats' stronghold in the Bay Area!
