The Massachusetts legislature is already trying to pass a new law that there would be an immediate special election to replace Kerry if he should step down.
IOW, they want to snatch any ability from Mitt Romney to name a Republican replacement.

I read the book years ago. Might reread it now just to note the parallels to Ted's situation.

THE BATTLE IS ENJOINED!
Fellow FREEPers, I ask you to join me in FIGHTING the Good Fight--let us DEFEAT the Democrat Party Operatives and their plans to:
make our foreign policy subservient to the United Nations,
raise our taxes,
legalize more infanticide,
lose the War on Terror,
and appoint Judges Who Legislate From The Bench!
I have made a sacrifice TODAY of $50.00, donated to President George W. Bush! I am CONSIDERING doing a monthly contribution of $25.00 or more...this amount
will be a sacrifice for me; it may not be a sacrifice for some of you...for some, it may be $5.00 that would be a sacrifice...for some of you, it may be $500.00.
Whatever your amount of sacrifice is, think about giving it now! The President is about to embark upon an early battle with the Socialists: they are united, strong, rich (don't forget the Soros Money!!) and determined!
Not all of us agree with the President on all issues; but now is not the time for inner party squabbling! As the enemy is united, so must we be!!
Give what you can!! I speak to you as a person who used to vote religiously as a Democrat: We must work to defeat John Kerry at the ballot box!! He must be defeated!!
Help President Bush today!! Here is the link to go to:
George W. Bush For President!
You'll find the donate link at the top of the home page!!
Thanks for reading!! Let us not be weary! Let us win this battle!!

Is it my imagination that Barney Frank and Chrissy in discussing the coming Kerry campaign are somewhat tepid?

Right you are;it's broken glass time!
I've already donated....LOTS, and am working on the re-election team where I live. :-)
To: nopardons
THE LAST HURRAH will certainly be revisited during this campaign. Especially if JaneFondaKerry keeps hanging on to Ted Kennedy. Everywhere you look in the Kerry Campaign is Kennedy. The commentators don't fully get it yet. The Kerry Campaign is the Kennedy Wing of the Democratic Party. Kerry identifies with John Kennedy -- he even worked on his signature to emulate John Kennedy. THE LAST HURRAH has haunted the Kennedy Family since the book was written and Ted Kennedy is about to relive it all over again. Eventually one of the commentators will catch onto it and the movie will start being shown on TCM.
