Maybe some day I'll get an RV and be a land nomad. Who knows. But I think I'm more suited to FL or TX.

C'mon to Texas! First, we're closer to where you are now. Second, there are too many anti-gun, nanny-state-loving New Yorkers retired in Florida - heck, look at what they almost did in 2000.

Texas, OTOH, is full of friendly folks. Rumor has it that there's plenty of space here. :>) (As an aside, when I entered Texas from Louisiana on I-10, I saw a sign that said "Exit 878, 1 mile." I was perplexed by the sign and the numbering system that seemed to be "fouled" up - until 3 miles later, that is. That's when I learned that El Paso was 875 miles away!!).

Oh, and we Texans LOOOOVVVVEEEE our guns - its been estimated that there are 2 for every adult in the state - which would equate to about 30 million. Yes, I know, we still have some work to do, but give us a few years and I'm sure we can double that. I'm doing my best to raise the average! Ain't no gun-grabbin' gonna happen here.

Many of my neighbors have Ford F250 trucks and moderate size "5th" wheel trailers. Many of them head north to the Island Park area (lots of lodgepole pines) on a Friday night and return late Sunday night. It's not very different from the southern Cal folks running out to the desert with trailers, trail bikes, dune buggies, etc on a Friday. The water rats pull their boats to the big reservoirs to fish and ski. Some cart jet skis. The mountain bikers are out as soon as the ice clears enough to ride safely.

In the winter, the big trailers are swapped out for smaller ones to carry 2 to 5 snowmobiles. The ski racks get a workout as well.

The value of dragging a trailer around is that you can relocate when the surroundings cease to meet your needs. I haven't been bitten by the trailer bug. A day trip to Yellowstone or the Tetons is fine. I can grab a hotel room if I want to stay overnight. I'll be room temperature before the cumulative cost of the hotel rooms equals the purchase price of a trailer and truck big enough to haul it.
