But how far underground would you have to go to find liquid water (as opposed to frozen?) I would have to think that the average subsurface temperature of Mars is pretty low.

I assume Mars has a hot core similar to the earth. I forgot the change in temperature of the earth going to the core but would guess a nice equation exists as a theoretical.

The next robot with a drill will go down 2 meters. Is that enough to strike water? I think they would have to be lucky to find water at that depth. Maybe 200 feet would do it.
