"It was unclear if the shooter, who may have used an AK-47, was shooting from inside or outside the home."

Ok, let's disect this:

1. How can you not be sure if the shots were fired from inside or outside the home? Where are the shells laying?

2. May have used an AK-47? How do they determine this, either it was or it wasn't. If there are no 7.62x39 shells to be found, it wasn't used.

The answer is to ban gangs.

The real answer is to remove all restrictions (infringements) concerning the 2nd Amendment. Allow open carry (Wyatt Earp style) everywhere and at all times. Society will quickly weed out the "demon seed" and national security / personal safety will ensue!

The framers of the Constitution weren't stupid. Today's professional career politicians are.

The senator on the floor, who is stumbling over his words, almost said, "The Senators who want to regis.. uh, gun..."

You mean "register", right?

Not entirely true. A SAR-2 type rifle has the same external cosmetic look as an AK (sans half-moon muzzle break), has an AK action, but shoots a 5.45mm round. They're most recognizable for the bright orange magazines.

Similarly, a SAR-3 type rifle has the same cosmetic look as an AK (sans half-moon muzzle break), has an AK action, but shoots a .223Rem round
