DETROIT (AP) Four men have been shot, three of them fatally, at an east side house.
Police responded to a 911 call about 6 p.m. EST and found two men inside the home and the other two outside, said police spokesman Officer Glen Woods.
It was unclear if the shooter, who may have used an AK-47, was shooting from inside or outside the home.
Monday night's shooting terrified neighbors.
"I didn't know which way it was coming from, it was so close, I was scared," said neighbor Lorraine Howard.
"It had me plenty nervous," James Hardman, 57, told the Detroit Free Press.
Two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene and the third died after being rushed to a hospital. The surviving man was in stable condition Monday night at a hospital.
"The department is trying its best to prevent things of this nature from happening, but unfortunately it still is," said Officer Malika Nixon.
Police said they did not have a motive or suspects in custody in the shootings.
But Hardman said heavy traffic at the house made it appear to be a drug house.
At least 57 people have died as the result of gun violence in Detroit since the beginning of the year.
"Unless we can get it to its core, we're going to continue to have these kinds of problems," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, who unveiled a two-year plan to combat crime during a community forum last week.
"It was unclear if the shooter, who may have used an AK-47, was shooting from inside or outside the home."
Ok, let's disect this:
1. How can you not be sure if the shots were fired from inside or outside the home? Where are the shells laying?
2. May have used an AK-47? How do they determine this, either it was or it wasn't. If there are no 7.62x39 shells to be found, it wasn't used.
The answer is to ban gangs.
