Yep, and in 1859 I suppose that you would have reported those escaped slaves to the slave catchers, because the law is the law.

Now you're being silly. First off, there's slim chance you could convince anyone that slavery is moral. Secondly, there are reasons (teleological and deontological) why having sex with children is illegal.

*sigh* Once again, instead of handling the issue in a reasoned manner, jackwits like yourself have to start throwing mud and jumping to conclusions.

Let me know when you have something worthwhile to contribute.

In those times it would have been really simple to do that.

Mud throwing? Jumping to conclusions? Are we projecting a bit this evening, infant?

And a fifteen year old is not a child. Through most of history, she would be married and might have a child or two. There are many reasons that a family and a society would want to prevent this liason, and protect the chastity (or at least the marrigability) of young women. The fact is that we don't do so with any consistancy and sending this guy to prison for ten years is stupid and evil and even unfair.

And the day that I ask your permission (or anyone's) to express my opinion is the day that Lucifer buys ice skates.
