America's number one talk radio host Rush Limbaugh is being honored by Talkers magazine and the National Association of Talk Radio Hosts, which will give him their annual Freedom of Speech Award in May.

"Like him or not, Rush Limbaugh has consistently made the greatest contributions to the well-being of the First Amendment," Talkers publisher Michael Harrison told the New York Daily News on Monday.

Harrison described Limbaugh as "a very brave champion of the First Amendment," saying "he faces the battle without the armor of a very thick skin."

Phil Boyce, program director of Limbaugh's flagship station WABC in New York, will present the award during Talkers' May 22 annual media seminar.

In the past, Talkers has bestowed their Freedom of Speech Award on radio hosts Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes, Bob Grant, G. Gordon Liddy and Matt Drudge.

I'd say, considering the circumstances, that he has very very thick skin.

Rush, as he so often does, makes Liberals look like the biggest hypocrites around. Not only with this latest issue surrounding Stern and his problems, but even when Bill Maher was fired from ABC for his comments. Although Rush is at the other end of the political spectrum compared to Maher, it was Rush who came to his defense when ABC cancelled his show. Compare that to the other side were they not only applauded the firing of Rush from ESPN, but constantly attack Rush's right to speak. Rush's consistent stance on free speech exposes the Left's relativism when it comes to the rights of others...especially those they disagree with.

Very strange wording. I guess they don't want to pump him up too much:)

Rush continues to serve as a beacon of truth especially in this politically charged year. We hear boldface lies from the Dims that go unchecked by a willing press. Someone must be a lightening rod for the truth and Rush is one of the most visible voices of the truth. God Bless Rush and his family.

Either that or they're using his skin as a metaphor for his only armor.

I wonder just how far Rush's support of the Freedom of Speech would go ?

For example, would he support the broadcast of that old George Carlin routine on the seven dirty words you can't say on TV ?

Since he supports Stern without even having listened to him, I suppose he is extremely liberal regarding this ....
