CHRIS WALLACE, HOST, FOX NEWS SUNDAY: On Tuesday, people in 10 states vote for a Democratic presidential nominee. With big leads in the polls and in fundraising, it sure looks like Senator John Kerry will face off this fall against President Bush. Here with a preview are the chairmen of the national parties: Ed Gillespie of the Republican National Committee and Terry McAuliffe of the Democratic National Committee. And, gentlemen, good morning to both of you. Good to have you here.

Honestly, McAluffe is truely a repulsive person. My politics aside, I cringe when he is on the tv. Never has such a low class, used car salesman been placed in such a high-profile position. For some reason, he reminds me of a Tom Arnold character in the movies, or something.

, it looked at all of the votes in 2003 that were cast in the United States Senate

The news out today proves that Kerry missed every vote in 2003.

Looks like the swimmer was voting proxy for the F'ing patriot.

I've seen some people here on FR call Gillespie a lightweight, but the few times I've seen him or read transcripts from him, he's impressed me. He's articulate, knows his facts and seems to be prepared for points/counterpoints.

My husband has been an honorable car salesman for 25 years, selling over 500 cars a year to repeat and referral customers. Every time I hear a person make such a comparison I cringe. Just to let you know, attorneys are ranked less trustworthy than car salemen.

I agree.
In retrospect though, his tenure hasn't been entirely negative for us.
Perhaps we would have won just as many elections with out McAluffe's bungling, but I doubt it. On the other hand, he is a cohort of Hillery and that makes him a force to be wary of.

ED GILLESPIE, REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN: Well, let me just address this notion of attacking Senator Kerry's patriotism. I have said on this show and on others that we honor Senator Kerry's commitment to our country, we respect his service in our military, but we're talking about some serious policy issues here, Chris

He screwed up by starting out defensively. He should have ignored the false charge and just started in on his record. Or - perhaps state that all democrats try this ploy of saying we're attacking their patriotism and point out its a ploy. Its time to get on the offensive and get someone in the RNC with some gonads.

"And Gillespie looked like a wimp."

I totally disagree. This was the first time I've seen Gillespie come on that strong. McAwful paled in comparison.

i totally disagree. Mr. Gillespie was right on stating the facts time and time again although I do wish he would be a bit more confrontational. McAluffe on the other hand sstated zero facts and just as usual named called Bush and
now Cheny.

And if his policies were in place today, Saddam Hussein would not only be in Baghdad, he'd be in Kuwait.

Kudos to Gillespie for saying this about John f'in Kerry.

No he didn't. I watched the program. He did not look wimpy at all. He did a good job.

I agree... we should start out by attacking the presumption... "Those who take refuge in claiming their patriotism has been attacked to avoid an honest discussion on national security are truly cowards and are obviously unfit for leadership."

Yes, that's a start.

Gillespie should wash his hair and slow down in his answers. He speaks too quickly for seniors.

Agree and for that reason, I can hardly bare to watch him; actually turned the channel after a few minutes of this yesterday; I'm glad to see the transcript here; less painful to read.

James Carville is another, who so reeks 'repulsive'; only his humor saves him from a total drowning and on occasion his wife.

When it comes to a 'repulsive factor'; the Dems win, hands down - every time.

Funny, always think Mcawful is practicing speed-reading when he talks.
