NO MEL GIBSON AT OSCARS
Sun Feb 29 2004 13:01:38 ET
A major no-show at tonight's Academy Awards in Hollywood will be Mel Gibson.
The Executive Producer of the program, Joe Roth asked the filmmaker of PASSION OF THE CHRIST to present an award, knowing it would create unforgettable sparks.
The LA TIMES reports that Gibson let the offer expire because, Roth says, he was afraid of being booed.
His representatives said Gibson was too busy to attend because it was the movie's opening weekend.

Does Hollywood understand that it follows in the steps of the UN, in being totally irrelevant?

Mel is too busy counting his money to attend

I have a feeling that, whatever the reason Gibson didn't accept the offer, it wasn't because he was afraid of being booed.
If anything, the "academy" booing him would only cause regular people to be more curious about this movie.

"Roth says, he was afraid of being booed. "Considering the audience, he'd be lucky to escape being stoned.

I suspect that Mel smelled a setup, and didn't oblige.

I can understand why Gibson wouldn't want to be booed and why he's not going, but as a conservative who dislikes Hollywood, it would've been good for our cause to see them screw up by booing Gibson because it would've made people more aware of what Hollywood is all about.

These people trashed Gibson's movie and they think he's still going to attend?
Gibson has better things to do than to watch a bunch of self-centered, egotistical, godless people engage in a 4 hour orgy among themselves.

Roth says, he was afraid of being booed. What an arrogant ass! If Gibson would have been booed Hollywood's output for a year would have been boycotted any stars pictured being disrespectful would have a future repeating the lines "Paper or Plastic"
Roth is very lucky that Gibson didn't show. I know, give the spot to Andy Rooney --- the creeps will love him.

Sure, what he's after is more villification. He should be thrilled to go. I haven't been a supporter of Hollywood in years, but I find them so offensive in the here and now that I will buy tickets for the movie that I'll keep as memorabilia just to help Mel's film company, and send the message to these villifiers that their dog won't hunt, can't hunt, and has never hunted.
They've always been a disgrace, but now they've really ticked me off. And I hope Mel has the opportunity to tell Katzenberg and his black-listing mafia 'do me a favor, and don't do me any favors.'

"Roth says, (Gibson) was afraid of being booed" Does this Roth person realize how false that rings? Gibson, fearless in making his movie, would now fear boos from the Godless?
I don't think so. More a case of not wanting to "cast pearls before swine".

I don't know this for sure, but I'm going to bet that Roth is a liar-- a weasley, suck-up liar.
To: #3Fan
No, I disagree. It's better than Mel didn't go to the stupid Oscars - then more people would've tuned in and boosted the show's ratings.
By Mel not going will guarantee another steep decline in viewership for the Academy Awards.

Lol, isn't it great to see the liberals going nuts over this?

If Mel really thought the classless of Hollywood would make themselves more so by "booing" him, he'd be there will wings on.
That spectacle would be the finish of Hollywood and even those clueless immoral twits are smart enough to know it. If anything, there would be a standing ovation for Mel lasting a full three minutes. Like a child and a hot stove, the Hollywood elite know it's too hot to touch.
Some of the lesser intelligent in the crowd would show their disgust for God and Jesus, but most of them depend on the butter and the right side of the bread.
