For the GOP: Rauschenberger (Chicago Tribune Endorsement)

The campaign for the U.S. Senate has been dominated by big-spenders, at least if you use the TV ads and the polls as a guide.
For those who are mesmerized by fat campaign bank accounts, it should be remembered that just two years ago in a Republican primary for the U.S. Senate, little-known and lightly funded Jim Durkin defeated two opponents who vastly outspent him.
Can that happen again?
If it does, Republican Party voters will have cast aside the television blitz to find the one candidate who has a long and unmatched public record of independence and effectiveness. That is state Sen. Steven Rauschenberger, who is endorsed today by the Tribune.
... snip ...
... we have watched him for 11 years since he came to the Illinois Senate, and it has been an absolutely exceptional performance.
... snip ...
In this primary field Rauschenberger brings by far the greatest experience and the greatest depth of thought on national issues. He would deliver the kind of creative leadership and integrity that Illinois has enjoyed from U.S. Rep. Henry Hyde, who has endorsed Rauschenberger.
... snip...
Voters, though, don't have to guess about Steve Rauschenberger. He has served them with unquestioned integrity and intelligence for more than a decade. He has done the job, and he has earned their support on March 16.

"But, you probably knew all of that, if you have heard her on the radio."
Oh, yes...I have heard her! She reeeeally seems to like the word "progressive", which I interpret to mean "socialist". But what do I know? Just hope she doesn't get elected; we don't need more Hillary clones.

Rauschenberger's clearly a good guy.
But so is Jack Ryan, and I think he can go all the way.

I think Rauschy cames to his senses and decided that
allowing the Chicago Teachers Union to have its own armed militia might not such a good thing?
Other than than one thoughtful back-pedal, I think the Second Amendment has no better friend in Illinois.

But so is Jack Ryan, and I think he can go all the way. I could support Jack! (The Pizza Guy) Ryan if actually wins primary. To do that, he's gotta overcome a case of Empty-Suit-Syndrome and a last name that's RADIOACTIVE in Illinois right now!

Hey Chief,
Good work on the Star thread.
Why not link your Star thread here and keep all us Rauschenbergers on the same channel.

They Daily Herald also supports Steve. Maybe we can pressue him for not taxing the internet if he wins. Steve has my full support. I'm going to vote for him Great choice Kevin, glad to get you oboard. I don't think it's so much that Steve wants to tax the internet as it is he wants to give mom & pop brick & mortar stores a level playing ground to compete. Keep more jobs, more small businesses here in Illinois.
RAUSCHY Headquarters is right out there in Elgin in a strip center on the west side Route 25 about 2 blocks south of the I-90 tollroad. Stop on in, pick up a yard sign, tell'em ThrRightGuy sent you!

I saw Andy McKenna today at lunch. He's not lookin' so pretty good. No more rosy glow. Five major city/suburban papers endorsed to day: RAUSCHY wins 3, Jack! wins 2, Andy wins ZERO.

IMO, Rauschenberger's gonna surge in the next two weeks while McKenna and Oberweis are dead in the water. McKenna just hasn't excited anyone and being the probable source of the Jack-claims-processing thing won't help. Rauschenberger will end up with at least 20%.

Rauschenberger's gonna surge in the next two weeks ... Rauschenberger will end up with at least 20%. Good analysis, and what's more, the grassroots surge is not measurable in the polls ... we'll blind side'em.
