KARENNA GORE SCHIFF: Get Out, Mr. Nader - You're only fueling defeatism--and you defeated my father
Wall Street Journal ^ | February 28, 2004 | KARENNA GORE SCHIFF

Watching Ralph Nader declare his candidacy was like having a terrible flashback. Oh no--not this again! I'm not saying we should muzzle independent voices or rule out third parties. Mr. Nader has a right to run for president. And I have a right to say, What an awful idea.

She's a nice girl. It's too bad she's so left-wing and stupid. Common sense stupid, I mean. She has plenty of book smarts. I don't feel much of a need to bash her, especially not for being loyal to her father. She's very bitter that she's not First Daughter and living the high life all over the world like Chelsea Clinton. She's much better looking than Chelsea. It isn't right!

Hillary Clinton and the Radical Left - Hillary Clinton and the Third Way***Conservatives who think progressives are misinformed idealists will forever be blind-sided by the malice of the left-by the cynicism of those who pride themselves on principle, by the viciousness of those who champion sensitivity, by the intolerance of those who call themselves liberal, and by the ruthless disregard for the well-being of the downtrodden by those who preen themselves as social saints.

Conservatives are caught by surprise because they see progressives as merely misguided, when in fact they are fundamentally misdirected. They are the messianists of a religious faith. But it is a false faith and a self-serving religion. Since the redeemed future that justifies their existence and rationalizes their hypocrisy can never be realized, what really motivates progressives is a modern idolatry: their limitless passion for the continuance of Them. ***

A 19 year old with the beginnings of a long record.

.......The younger Gore had been stopped by police twice before in recent years. He was ticketed by military police in September 2002 outside Fort Myer in suburban Virginia for driving under the influence.

North Carolina police cited Gore in the summer of 2000 for driving 97 mph in a 55 mph zone. Charges were dropped but he had to pay a $125 ticket and his driving privileges were suspended in the state.

Last I heard, a lot of democrats thank God that her weird daddy didn't get elected.

They better read Zell Miller's book A National Party No More: The Conscience of a Conservative Democrat.

Huh? It's a bit early here and I haven't had coffee yet. Are we talking about the same thing? But maybe you're trying to tell me that my "defense" of Karenna Gore-Schiff is misguided, and I should tar all liberals with the same brush?

I've never thought that the Gores where anywhere near as bad as the Clintons. They're far less venal, ambitious, and corrupt (lack of opportunity, maybe), and Karenna really is much better looking than Chelsea, poor girl.

Not that I'm a fan of theirs or anything. I dislike all Democrats, but some more than others.

(Sniffle) This makes it official. Karenna is now a certified (sob) "victim."

Well, get your coffee and remember they will give Bush no quarter. Save your sympathy for better things.

I don't recall Karenna saying the same thing to H. Ross Perot in 1992

The media loved Perot and Buchanan and gave them plenty of airtime so that they could take votes away from Bush 41 and Bob Dole. In fact my Republican brother voted for Perot, instead of Bush 41. He's always regretted it.

In the 2000 election, our Republican friend voted for Buchanan, even though Bush needed every vote he could get here in Penna. He told me he had to vote "his heart." Gore won our state.

I heard Neal Bortz say on the radio that he voted Libertarian previously, but he's not going to do that again after 9/11.

Republicans have been voting for third party candidates because the Republican candidate wasn't good enough for them. I was pragmatic and always supported the Republican candidate. I'm glad that Ralph Nader will take votes away from John Kerry. I hope the media will give Ralph Nader lots of media time.

I can't remember which came first, the incredibly gay sighing debate or the "I'm a deranged alpha male" debate. But put them together, and they made Gore look not only terminally weird, but also like a guy who has to get up every morning and decide what kind of personality he's going to project that day. Neither trait is particularly reassuring in a president. He came across like a robot with a glitch in his behavior software.

Didn't your boring daddy invent ideas?

It took Ross Perot two election cycles to clean the bug out of his system, and he had a big company to run and a fortune to maintain. Ralph should be afforded the same opportunity.

A vote for Ralph Nader is not a vote for some Utopian principle.

Whoa...Sweetie, you do so not want to go there. Just because you and your ilk are an immoral, unprincipled lot, don't assume than everyone else with a Dem affiliation suffers from the same affliction.

The premise of this editorial is just not sound. (No surprise there.)

Pat Buchanan hurt George Bush as much, if not more, than Nader hurt Gore. Nader took the most votes in states where Gore won by a huge margin anyhow. Buchanan very likely cost Bush New Mexico, one of the Pacific NW states, and nearly cost him Florida.
