The revelation in the April 25, 2001 New York Times Magazine that former senator Bob Kerrey murdered innocent women and children in Vietnam has exposed a sharp division in American public opinion over questions of military ethics. Kerrey admitted to having participated, as a young Navy SEALs lieutenant, in a massacre of 13 unarmed Vietnamese women and children in the tiny village of Thanh Phong. Exactly how the incident, which occurred in February of 1969, took place still isn't clear. According to Kerrey, his SEAL commando squad mistakenly believed they were under fire; but one of the members of that squad, Gerhard Klann, disputes this, claiming the killings were deliberate and at point-blank range. (Klann's account is corroborated by one surviving villager, Pham Tri Lanh.)

Senator Kerry wants to dredge up the Viet Nam War and his "hero" stature? Maybe he needs to "come clean" as Senator Bob Kerrey did in April 25, 2001 in the NY Times Magazine.

False headline.

You do know that this story is about Senator Bob Kerrey and not Senator John Kerry?

Try them both for war crimes.

I'm sorry, (that you didn't read my lead in!) I plainly mention both Senator KERRY [Mass] and Senator KERREY [Kan]
To: Young Werther
Kerry is French, and the victims were unarmed... Who knows?

The procedure is to state your opinion elsewhere, not in the headline.

From what I have read, Bob Kerrey was shooting in the dark in the middle of a fire fight, I can't bring myself to say he should be charged with a war crime. My older brother and my Cousin both served in Vietnam, My Cousin was more like a brother, him and his mother lived with our family before he was born. His father was KIA in the Korean War.
My Cousin was a Forward Observer (FO) before stepping on a land mine on Halloween day 1968, he told of some things he witnessed and participated in that wasn't exactly kosher, what he told me about his time over there was a nasty hell hole where 18 year old boys were doing what they had to stay alive and look out for their buddies. God Bless them all, is what I say.
As far as John Kerry, I feel the man is a fraud, I believe he wrote up his own recommendations for the medals he got and had someone close to the Kennedy family approve of them. Kerry spent 4 months in Vietnam on a Swift boat and managed to get three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star while patrolling the Mekong Delta, He has no limp, all his limbs and isn't willing to release his Military records.... ??????
My older brother was in the navy from 1966-70 served on a Swift Boat from 67-69 and spent his last 11 months on the U.S.S. Mulaney and has serious doubts about John Kerry's Military service record.

Okay..I'd forgotten about Sen Kerrey's mea culpa in 2001. I've a friend, Navy Seal, who soldiered with Kerrey and Jesse Ventura! We would trade war stories and he held both these men in high regard.
When the Democrats speak of Wubya lies and the Iraq decision they, especially KERRY, seem to forget the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, LBJ, Robert MacNamara and the 50,000 names on the "Wall".
That was the point of my post! I've volunteered at the Bush Cheney web site and we need to encourage all Freepers to fight the vile Demons!
To: Young Werther
Jesse Ventura was never a SEAL for one day in his life (he was UDT when there was a HUGE difference) and he never went to Viet Nam. I think somebody's making up war stories.

There is no comparison, President Bush told no lies in the lead up to the Iraq War, he laid out, to all of us, the reasons why he felt we must act in Iraq, and if the Intel was wrong about the "Stockpiles" Saddam might possess, that's life!, but there is no doubt about Saddam's WMD's and the programs he had in place to produce them. All this horse shit the democrats come up with and the media's willingness to echo them. The facts are on President Bush and his administrations side. The same can not be said for LBJ

Yea, but you know what? I bet if we could publicize this in October, there's a lot of dumbos and bimbos out there who wouldn't make the connection that this is NOT the Dem-o-rats nominee for prez. and Jane Fonda Kerry, the actual nominee, could have to do some damage control.
Is this a pipe dream? Yea, I guess so.

Travis, I wouldn't mind getting your thought's on John Kerry, I salute him for his service, but find his story questionable. I didn't serve, so I feel I'm not in the position to squak a whole hell of a lot. I would have loved to been given a chance to serve, but I'm 80% deaf in one ear and was denied by the Marines and later the Navy. So I made the decision to do what I could, by donating all I could, and can, to the DAV and our troops serving today, and been doind so since the mid 70's

MY husbands dad used to say things like well I guess I was a bad person because I could not serve, and so we dredgedup his performance working on our battleships that were brought to PEARL HARBOR for repair, and dougs mom was kind of rosy the ribbeter, we could not have won the war without them ,unfortunatly during the VIETNAM conflict we had awful politicians this country is very lucky that they have at least been keeped at bay.

Kerry is either a war criminal or a treasonous liar.
Let the truth be exposed in a court of law!
