I was suprised when Fox Distribution pulled out. I am not sure why, maybe they didn't want to be associated so strongly as a quasi-conservative corporate entity or they simply broke weak and let a lot of revenue slip away in the process.
In any event, I confess I don't exactly understand how the distribution game works but that I am told that is where the Studio's strength lies. Do you understand it?

I used to attend a black church with a dance team that choreographed music very movingly. Very often, when one woman was given a "solo" (for lack of a better term), after she finished she would weep as the dance team left the front. I've sometimes felt the same way when I knew I had been used of the Lord. It's an awesome, humbling feeling, beyond our ability to express. We've stood in for the Lord, and we know we're completely unworthy to do so.

Even the thought of trying to "represent" the Christ makes me feel undone. No offense, but although humility is a good thing, it is not so good when taken to extremes. We ARE called to "represent" the Christ. Paul calls us His ambassadors on this earth. We may be only worms in comparison with His Glory, but we are His tools on this earth. Whether it means to show the world through our lives, or through verbally telling others, or by playing Jesus so people can get the picture in their heads, I believe the Lord approves of it. Preaching the gospel is a REQUIREMENT for all Christians, and he expects us to do it with whatever RESOURCES and TALENTS he gives to us. Even if it means letting our baby boy represent Him in a play. Or having the temerity to play Him in a movie. That's why we even have talents at all - for HIS glory.

I don't understand it, either, other than the fact there's a heck of a lot of money to be made in the distribution side of things. I wasn't aware of FOX pulling out. I wonder if they were concerned their involvement could be used to further bludgeon the movie?

I vaguely recall the Babs or her hubby shelled out the dough for the Reagan hit piece. But I'm not positive.

Yes, we are called to be ambassadors of the gospel here on earth. I accept that as the great commission. However, He is the exact representation of the Father. I couldn't do it. Perhaps that makes me a "weaker brother." IOW, to do so would be sin unto me.
You asked.

I am happy to say it has a happy ending, an open tomb with the Christ walking out. Oops, hope I didn't ruin the movie for you by telling you the ending. LOL No way! You spoiled it for me!!! He lives in the end ??????? Well, no reason to go see it now !!! LOL big time. Thanks, actually, I was curious whether it ended at the empty tomb or not. =)

You should e-mail Rush with that stuff. People need to be informed about how frightened of and dishonst liberals are willing to be to denigrate this great film.

"Liberals sure are stupid. The theatre will sell you a ticket until all seats are full. If a liberal doesn't buy a ticket to "The Passion" somebody else will. How does buying a ticket for another movie affect sales of "The Passion"?"
Thank you. That seemed so obvious I thought I was missing something. Reminds me of Blazing Saddles; "Stop! Come any closer and I'll shoot the sheriff."

Thanks, actually, I was curious whether it ended at the empty tomb or not. =) My wife had a very interesting thought.
She's convinced that Mel's next project will be to do "The Resurrection".

Don't feel bad ... at 6'1" and 255 lbs. with a mustache, I don't think I would/could play Mary. :)

True, I think they did finance part of that fiasco...and, I'm sure, will now claim it as a huge loss on their taxes ;) As a rule, though, libs will only shell out on something for which they're promised a greater and direct return.
Mel had no safety nets, and had he failed the media would have been giddy...unlike the sympathetic/sycophantic rants they spewed about censorship for Mr & Ms. Babs.
(BTW, I think Andy Rooney is just bitter about not being cast as a Roman Centurion, or possibly Satan's spawn.)
To: BSunday
I am extremely sensitive to pictures of Christ, scriptures of Christ, and statues of Mary being a Calvinist.
But, after much though, there is just no way I can conceive of a movie being an icon or unbiblical graven image. There is a difference between a mental image and a sinful graven image.
I don't know anybody who does not imagine scenes in Scripture when they read God's Word. This is nothing different from the movie.
It is when we make something from our mental images, which shows that we think they can actually be a true representation of the divine instead of just a shadow, that the second commandment is violated.
