BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Six former University of Colorado football players told a journalism student in videotaped interviews that coaches encouraged them to develop relationships with police to get special treatment, a Denver television station reported.
"It's all about who you know. I think that's what coach [Gary] Barnett is trying to come to," Brandon Drumm said in 2001 interview for CU campus television that aired Thursday night on KUSA-TV.

The idea of sports as a method of building character, of teaching higher values such as discipline, self-sacrifice, and the value of pursuing an abstract goal larger than yourself: another nice thing permanantly debased by the baby boom generation.
