Early detractors of Mel Gibson's hit film, "The Passion of the Christ," are backing away from their critical remarks after the movie grossed a record-setting $26.6 million on its opening day.
"The Passion," which opened Wednesday on 4,643 screens at 3,006 theaters, set a record for the biggest opening day for a movie released outside the summer (May-August) and winter holiday months (November-December).

"most violent movie ever"
Ha, really doesn't fly when they made movies with chainsaw murder scenes, and movies with every other known method of inflicting pain.

Hmmm..what does it mean? That Christians want good movies too? That they are a legitimate target audience. I'm amazed at hollyweird's density.

Thanks for the article and link about Leno. Did you hear his remarks about the lightening? I knew the actor on the cross got hit, but I didn't know he got hit twice! Gibson said it was the last scene..and that when it was all over and he was walking away, he kept looking up at the sky!

If they are "shocked" over this Movie's interest and popularity - can you imagine how "shocked" they will be when Christ Comes Again?

Maybe they should have said "most painful movie ever". I've been told "the truth hurts". :-)
That's the problem right there. The Truth hurts because they do not understand. They can't handle the Truth!

That's right! I believe this film will end up in revival and even in Washington. We will have 'new leadership' as some of the prophetic voices have been uttering lately. It's exciting, isn't it?

"I don't know if it's there or not, but there's a lot of it around now. I think we have to be careful."
Wow! He out did Clinton!
Not only does this comment depend on what the definition of both "there"s are, it also depends on the meaning of either of the "it"s. He actually said nothing four times in one sentence.

LOL...once again butts in the seats takes precedent over "moral conviction". Some of these movie folks had such deep convictions that when the ticket sales data came in, they were on the horn seeing if Gibson wanted to do The Passion 2.
Suddenly this flick isn't as anti-Semitic as was once believed. I guess money does talk, loud and clear. Curious, huh?!

Paging Mr. Gibson....Paging Mr. Gibson....
NOTE: Mr. Gibson you're masterful treatment of the Passion of Jesus Christ has uniquely positioned you to make an unprecedented display of Ann Coulters book "TREASON" because there is simply no other producer able or courageous enough to do it... please do take it into consideration for you're NEXT PROJECT....

Even Democratic front-runner John Kerry weighed in during a visit to Los Angeles yesterday, telling reporters that the movie could be anti-Semitic. "I am concerned," Mr. Kerry, a Catholic, told reporters. "I don't know if it's there or not, but there's a lot of it around now. I think we have to be careful." Just remember Kerry is an A-hole!
