Gee, if only he had been hit by a regular ol' car instead of an SUV, maybe he could have just brushed himself off and given the driver what for.

I heard the cop made a smart remark, and the SUV popped him with a good one.

Police were questioning the driver of the SUV. Why are they harassing the driver when the SUV was clearly at fault?

I think SUV's are stupid - plain and simple, but I defend peoples rights to drive whatever they want and can afford. These articles pointing out that the vehicle was an suv, when a large portion of the populace now drive suv's is issue baiting.

He should have been wearing an SUV-proof vest. But then again, maybe it was one o' them there "cop-killer" SUVs. They're teflon coated with hollow-point grills.

Why are they harassing the driver when the SUV was clearly at fault? The driver is a material witness. Don't be surprised if the SUV whacks him before the trial.

*Groan* This is one of the worst yet. Not even a single, passing mention of the driver.

Whoops! It does mention the driver. D'OH! Still bad, though.

Surely this story was planted by Nader operatives.

Yes, some of these articles are ridiculous but I agree that SUVs are stupid, for most people. I live in suburbia. Most people around here use their cars to drive to work, to the mall, drive their kids to school, etc. Many of these huge SUVs are driven by 5'4" women who have no idea how to handle them and have absolutely no need for such a truck (and they are trucks). I hate driving surrounded by these behemoths that obstruct your view of the road, or tailgate you on the highway during a snowstorm because they think they're indestructible in their SUV. And forget trying to back out of a parking space with an SUV on either side of you. You just have to go inch by inch and pray other drivers are watching for you, because you're completely blind.
Did I mention I hate them? :-P

Did you ever notice on morning traffic reports the last few years you keep hearing about "rollover" accidents. I used to just hear about "accidents." Well, I've seen a few of these and EVERY SINGLE ONE was an SUV.
They're not all that safe...
