Comparing The Passion opening to a Spidey opening is dumb and entirely misleading. Spidey was NOT RATED R, and was opened in ALL US theaters. Not just a select few. Thus more kids went. Many parents of younger children would probably elect NOT to let their children see The Passion given the hype on the 'violence'. DUH!

I think you clicked on the wrong post. I stated anything about Spiderman, R-ratings, or theater numbers today, yesterday, or so far this year (to the best of my knowledge).
Having said that, I do expect the boxoffice numbers for the week to certainly give Spiderman, ET, Star Wars, Indiana &Co, and others a good run for their money.
