[history]
The parents of a 10-year-old boy suspended from a public school for sexual harassment are shocked and angry that a playground outburst by their son has been given such a distressing and politically charged label.
Insisting that the first-year principal at Theodore Judah Elementary School overreacted and used poor judgment, they say they are appealing the suspension and want the "ridiculous" punishment stricken from the boy's record.

When you just punish a kid, somehow adults get the impression that you've done something, but in the long run you've done more damage than good," Nelson added. "You put a kid down and make him feel bad, they'll be more discouraged and more likely to misbehave in the future." No, you or the parents paddle him and make him apologize and send him back to class.

I'm confused. The boy who got suspended said the remark TO ANOTHER BOY, and the other boy went to the girl and repeated it. But the second boy is NOT in trouble?Correct!

Acording to the story the it was the boy's 'friend' that actually told the girl the comment. I am pretty sure it is not 'harassing' someone unless they hear/know about it. So really the friend should be the one punished. They are worried about the girl feeling bad or somthing and it was the 'friend' that caused that.

I never punished the kid, always the behavior. I never told my kids they were bad. I told them their behavior was unacceptable.

The boy's parents say it would have been more effective if all of the pupils involved were brought together and the boy was given a chance to apologize.
Yeah, girls who are pestered by boys really like that experience. Both boys should have had their mouths smacked and washed out with soap. No suspension and "sexual harassment" bs. If the girl has a big brother, he should have pounded the offenders on the way home from school. Why did this wheel need reinventing?

"There is a greater awareness that we live in a very small world and we need to be respectful of one another," said Maria Lopez,
Mushy Libspeak.
Left unspoken by the Left:
"there is...very small minded world...be respectfull of one another provided they are perverts, 'victims' and other fellow travellers."

Excellent choice of words by Jane Nelson.

Here's the account according to the boy's parents: The 10-year-old made the remark to a male friend on school grounds. The friend then ran over and repeated it to the girl.According to my dictionary, "harassment" means to "annoy continually or chronically". Since what the boy said about the girl was, by the facts presented, a one-time only incident, I fail to see how he harassed the girl, either sexually or otherwise.

Me too, as I spanked their butt.Right! Now my son is 15 and bigger than me but he still respects mamma.

Children sometimes don't understand the boundaries of appropriate language and behaviorUmmmm, isn't that the definition of being a child!!!

You don't know nine year old boys very well, do you ?I don't have to know any nine year old boys. Why, I was a nine year old boy - and not too long ago, either. We went to school, worked, listened to our elders, attended church and did good deeds for our neighbors.
We had no time for this kind of nonsense, I can tell you!!

What I told the district when I complained about our run in was that sexual harassment had to have an element of power associated with it. You know the old have sex or lose job senerio. But the man I talked to said no what my son did was sexual harassment. He also told me that my son was the problem and he would continue to have problems at the new school. He has since been proven wrong but nothing was done about the femist vice principal.
