SUV Crashes Into East Hartford House Toddler In Critical Condition

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- A sport-utility vehicle crashed into a house Wednesday morning in East Hartford.

The vehicle crashed into a house at 493 Park Avenue, according to police.

Authorities said an 18-month-old girl was transported by LifeStar helicopter to Connecticut Children's Medical Center. The girl, one of two children in the vehicle, is in critical condition.

William Cordero, a resident in the house, said he ran outside after hearing the screech of tires.

"The mother ran out screaming, and I ran to the backseat," he said. "I saw a little child. She had a seatbelt on, but she wasn't breathing. I checked her pulse, lifted up her head, and started praying. She started breathing again and she got a pulse."

The child was not in a child safety seat, according to authorities.

The crash marks the second time a vehicle has crashed into the house.
