The first vote is to end the fillibuster. I'll post the other votes on this thread when they happen and when Thomas prints them. On this first vote, a YEA vote ends the fillibuster.
Everything should happen in the next 30 hours since cloture was invoked. However, right now - Drunken swimmer Ted Kennedy is going on a very long rant.

"run your mouth about how it is someone else's (Bush and judges)responsibility. "
Damn right, that is their oath of office and jobs. You are no better than those who blame the victim of crimes, try blaming those responsible. We are not the ones on the Senate/House floors voting Aye or No. Do you think that Hollings is going to care about you, me or anyone else's calls to not vote for the AWB or anything like it? He doesn't, he is retiring and could care less about the upcoming election because he is not running.
No, I was not on the street in 2000, but I was convincing people to vote for Bush and the other GOP candidates. I was working 2 jobs, so I could not go door to door. This year is different, I have the time and am willing to help out. However, they have to earn my respect by defending the CONSTITUTION like they say they will. Your not holding them responsible just gives them a pass and tells them that it is ok to not do their sworn duty.
Were you in the military?

Get on the team and pull. Don't be a part of the problem. It is fun to be the lone voice crying in the wilderness but we need people who are actually doing something. Call your senators and Frist (though it took me 30+ tries ti get through). Don't just carp and complain.

Really? I think that basil and PistolPaknMama really appreciate that sentiment. Fight your own battles Looscnn, ya' wuss.
With that line of thinking, why bother having other groups?
We shouldn't bother.
Why bother having more than one auto maker, motorcycle company, senator, representative, state, etc.?
This is an ideological war: Pro-gun vs anti-gun. To have the pro-gun forces split into separate uncoordinated commands undermines our cause. Having the little pro-gun groups spend their time attacking the big pro-gun groups is completely counter productive. The only thing I have ever heard these little groups do is complain about the NRA.
How do you know they are not producing results? Because they are not in the news, on the tv, spoken about in Congress by the dems?
Yes.
They are not irrelevant just because they are not in the news, etc. They can be producing results in stealth.
Then they can do their fund raising in "stealth" too. I have no intention of wasting any time or money on these little irrelevant groups. As I said, the most effective strategy to pursue in the support of a principled ideology is to sponsor the groups that produce the largest effort and the best results in furthering that ideology.

lol.....moderator...he said bad things!....wahhhh!
What I said was all true, you will never make those babies happy until John Kerry is president. Then, they can sit back on thier self-righteous butts and say "see? this is what happens when you make us mad!" Nobody is trying to chase anyone away from the GOP, in fact I'm trying to get some of our less-backbone equipped GOPers to stand by the president rather than abandoning him because of their petty, childish, gripes about how he isn't "respecting" them.
You are obviously a fool if you want John Kerry to be president, and all I can see from your post is that is your goal.
here is a real gem:
He then raves on for a bit, before attacking me too, with this below-the-belt kick:
3)"Disenfranchised" is a liberal codeword, and anyone using it sets themselves up for scrutiny.
Feeling a bit defensive are we?
Sorry you are "disenfranchised", maybe you should set your goals down to a "realistic" setting. Or you can wait for John Kerry to "reenfranchise" you since you won't vote for Bush anyway.

Listen, basil and PPM deserve to hear what you and shooter think of any group other than the NRA. They are SAS and have worked hard for the cause. Are you afraid to hear the truth? Besides, your the one jumping in a conversation that was not directed to you. Looks like you or shooter can't fight your own battles.
"We shouldn't bother"
I figured as much, go read some more GOP & NRA gospel.
"The only thing I have ever heard these little groups do is complain about the NRA"
And where did you hear that from, the NRA? Ever think that the NRA is afraid that one of the other groups will get as big if not bigger than them and they will loose their thunder? Maybe you are too, are you one of the higher ups in the NRA and could loose your job if they make it big?

And where did you hear that from, the NRA?
The only communications I have received from these little groups are in complaint about the NRA. I've never heard the NRA waste their time responding to these pipsqueak organizations.
To: Shooter 2.5
By the way, I wonder how TSRA, IDPA, & SAS think about you putting their links on your profile page after what you have said about other gun organizations.

And you did not answer the question. Navy. Honorable/Honorable. That is what is called a non-sequitor. People who have exhausted their options use that in an argument. Look at the thread and the replies. It sure seems like a lot of people that have been here for years are disagreeing with you. They have seen your type come and go. In case you forgot the argument here is about "freepers" who poison the waters for those of us pulling together. (Seeing as you are a military you ought to understand that concept.) Those people are a part of the problem not the solution.
Grow up, admit you are wrong here. Become a part of the solution.

I asked because I want to make a point. When you joined, you took an oath to defend the country, etc. Right? If you did not do that, who is to blame? You or the citizens?
"It sure seems like a lot of people that have been here for years are disagreeing with you"

Answer a question for me that I posted earlier. It is not a non-sequitor. "Perhaps you can clue me in on when the NRA has taken a shot at another gun group - other than returning fire?" You alleged they had several times.

It is still my job. Still. I work and give money for it. Good luck and I anxiously await your answer.

Lots of FR people that have been here for years are in favor of assault weapons bans..
Strange, -- but true, -- because they blindly support politicians and movements that claim 'community standards' backed by a majority vote can 'regulate' property by prohibiting possession..
The fact that such prohibitions are unconstitutional never quite seems to sink in..
Pretty weird types of conservatives, imo.
