C-Span Alert (Debate begins this morning @ 9:30am on S. 1805 & Assasult Weapons Ban Renewal)

Senate debate on the gun manufactures liability bill will begin at 9:30 this morning on C-Span2. Expect Feinstein to attach her Assault Weapons Ban renewal rider on it. Also McCain may attach a rider closing the so called "gun show loophole". This is it folks.

No, no, no!!!! The Senate Republicans have a one vote majority. If any of this crap passes, the blame lies SQUARELY on them! It is time to go after THEM! They are the ones allowing this to happen. Am I pissed? You bet! But at Bush? No. Frist is the guilty one.

I have never seen 30-.06 marketed as armor piercing/defeating. (Hands clapped to sides of head) I'm so confused.

Agreed, but if this crap makes it to Bush's desk and he signs it, isn't he just as much to blame? After all, he could veto.

I like your "Responsibility in Government Act". If an intruder kills me while my gun is in locked storage, then my family can sue the feds for millions.

Yep. And even though it is the Bushbots pushing for more "moderate, electable Republicans", it is OUR fault for voting them in.

Most cops wear fairly thin body armor because it's lighter and cooler. I don't blame them. But any centerfire rifle cartridge will probably go right through it.

25 is less than 50 the last time I checked, 2 dems voted Nay. The GOP split the vote, it was 25 Ayes and 25 Nays. So that shoots your theory out of the water. The dems weren't the only ones to give us the shaft. Oh, wait I forgot it was us that gave ourselves the shaft seeing as you don't believe that it is their fault.

23 is less than fifty. Yes. What is your point? 49 is more than the 46 the Democrats could have mustered had the Republicans stuck by true conservative principles and NOT voted for a Boxer amendment.

You don't even know what the hell you are talking about. Do you? You just saw someone getting upset over the Pubbies sell out on a gun issue and jumped right in.

So tell us, how is the Republicans caving on the Boxer Amendment advancing gun Rights and the conservative cause?

While you are at it, tell us if 27+23=50. Considering that would have left only 46 Democrats on the otherside. Would the amendment have passed? Don't keep embarrassing yourself on this one.

You're right, I blame the pubbies first and foremost for this. Sometimes you just gotta do what's right and hunker down with no compromises. With the White House, Congress and Senate under the R flag, there's no excuse for bad business getting through. I think we could solve a lot of this with the line item veto, or some other law that prohibits tacking on unrelated amendments to a bill. Make them swallow one pill at a time and taste the bitterness.

Just heard one bit of good news today,,,

Missouri Supreme Court Upholds Concealed Gun Law

But they left the door open to hose us on what's called Hancock Amendment=unfunded mandate. Right now there are 3 counties the law can't be "enforced" in. Whatever that means..developing,,

I will see if anyone has a proper seperate thread going for this...thanks

They are trying to keep all cheap military surplus ammunition with solid bullets from coming into the U.S. There is a ton of cheap 7.62, 5.56, 8mm, .30, 50BMG ammo available with steel or copper cores that are considered armor piercing and they are trying to stop this cheap ammo from being sold. Problem is there are solid bullets used for dangerous game that could be considered as armor piercing. Plus, if they are going by performance and velocity than even standard high velocity jacketed or soft point bullets will penetrate body armor. If that is the case than these a$$holes can go to hell.

Cantwell up. Trying to get her Amendment tacked on. If I am right, this is the Unemployment benefits extension. Why this needs to get tacked on here is beyond me.

Yes they will undoubtedly use the "cop killer" approach to define "armor-piercing ammo". They will claim anything that can defeat class III or lightweight soft body armor could kill a cop, therefore it is "armor-piercing" ammo. This will seem perfectly logical to Ted Kennedy but would be a disaster for all of us since any cartridge that can kill a deer can defeat most lightweight vests. If they manage to get such an ammo ban passed then we have officially passed that awkward time.

WE CAN SOLVE THIS RESLOVE THIS BY LETTING EVERYONE IN THE STATE CARRY, NOT JUST EX-LEO'S.

The second amendment does say "right to keep and bear arms... shall not be infringed". And the fourteenth says "no state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States ... nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Thus the immunity from having one's RKBA infringed cannot be abridged by the states, and furthermore the states cannot have one rule for some and a different rule for others, at least not without some due process in there somewhere, such as conviction for a crime. Under the equal protection clause they could ban carry for everyone, but under the "P&I" clause they can't ban or even infringe upon, the carrying (ie. bearing) of arms.

COP KILLER BULLTES?????

Defined as any bullet, even from a 30/30, that will penetrate a vest, and all centerfire rifle rounds will do so. Don't worry about the AWB, if this passes, you won't be able to have any ammunition for them anyway.
