Lawsuit threatened after gay couple denied marriage license in Broward

By Paula McMahon Staff Writer Posted February 24 2004

Gay activists and attorneys in Florida were quietly and carefully monitoring how the legal campaign for same-sex marriage was going in liberal states like Massachusetts and California.

Some said they were waiting to see how the laws would be interpreted. Others said they wanted a legal dream team to find the most sympathetic examples of same-sex partners who wanted to marry and were willing to fight the battle.

I just hope this is making others as sick as it's making me.

This celebration of lawlessness and perversion spreading across America and nobody seems able to stop it. The nation seems to have lost it's moral compass and the result is just depressing to watch.

What the court should do and would do in years past is throw it out as a frivolous lawsuit.

This country is disintegrating before our eyes.

~6,000 years of civilization discarded like a used newspaper.

It's making me and others I know sick, too.

The fact that there is not a widespread sense of outrage and disgust shows how little the family as an institution means to most Americans today.

the most sympathetic examples of same-sex partners who wanted to marry ?

Not a lot of range there. Even the most "sympathetic" example is not going to cut much ice with the 60-65% of the population who are really, elementally opposed to this. I think Bush did the right thing today - now his campaign apparatus needs to support his position by informing some of the morons in this world who don't realize that a "state's rights" position on this, absent anything else, is capitulation everywhere. I heard a dim witted talk show host this afternoon suggest that a constitutional amendment is not necessary - that we should "leave it up to each state". This is precisely the problem and the reason that an Amendment to the Federal Constitution in needed. Some people never read the Constitution, but the full faith and credit clause would have the effect of exporting gay marriages to all 50 states, regardless of where they were performed. Like a Vegas wedding chapel, only perverse.

That isn't newspaper. It's the Constitution.

Oh I think there is outrage. It's just that the media would have you believe otherwise by choosing NOT to cover it.

The state agency that handles the marriage licenses from the county level should not honor them. Just send them back to the county.

This is so absurd. What happens when a son "marries" his own father? Or his mother, etc, etc.

The queers have just pushed it too far this time. They amount to less than 5% of the population and should not be paid this much attention to in the first place. At some point their "in-your-face" activity is going to backfire on them.

I've met a lot of queer men. My best friend in high school's dad decided he was gay or bi-sexual or gosh knows what. His mother was OK with it because my friends dad made big bucks. And besides, mom was bombed on booze all the time. Anyway, his dad had all these gay men over. And then started a business in the Houston Montrose area. Constant parties. I met 100's of queers. Many attempted to "convert" me to their "ways". That was a joke. Some got hurt.

One thing I learned was that almost all these guys were self-loathing and pathetic people. Oh, they might be "happy" and just "bubbly" but inside they were ALL messed up. Or, they were mean SOB's. In your face types. The "gay and proud" types. Which I expect are very happy now that they are making society consider them "normal". Which has been the agenda for decades now. Make queers "straight".

I say fine. Put big hairy guys tongue kissing on prime time network TV. Or, why not show men having oral and anal sex on cable? It's normal, right? Just like two men getting married is normal. And that's where they will go next. Mainstream queer sex. That's the next step.

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

3But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

The Man of God and the Word of God

10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra--what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Ever notice democrats always oppose states rights when it comes to concealed carry permits for gun owners? They argue the full faith and credit clause does NOT apply to carrying guns from state to state. Or cigarettes and alcohol sales too. But they also argue in favor of crossing borders for abortions to get around states rights that support parental consent laws when abortions are performed on minors.

Once the definition of marriage changes from a man and a woman - we will see a rash of other bizarre types of marriages being tested.

We know two brothers have applied for a marriage license in San Franciso - why not a Mother and daughter? Or a father and son? Or a grandfather and grandson?

After all the media and homosexual activists have been cramming the "nobody's business if it is between two consulting adults." mantra down our throats.

If the defense of marriage group wanted to prove how outrageous this would become, they could make up all sorts of weird combinations to apply for marriage certs.

Next, you'll have some Muslims claiming that freedom of religion means right to polygamy. Islam permits a man to have 4 wives as long as he can treat all 4 wives justly.
