'My Daddy Sold Me for Crack'
Albuquerque Journal | Tuesday, February 24, 2004 | Katie Burford

Posted on 02/24/2004 11:08:39 AM PST by woofie

A 35-year-old man is charged with child prostitution and kidnapping after his 15-year-old daughter told police he sold her for crack.

The man was arrested Saturday after the girl's mother reported the kidnapping to police. The Journal is withholding his name to protect the teen's privacy.

Police on Monday called the crime "despicable" and "heinous."

"It's a horrible thing that any parent would even consider putting their children in a position such as this," Albuquerque Police spokesman Jeff Arbogast said.

The girl told police she was walking home from a friend's house late Thursday when a car and a truck pulled up behind her. First her father got out of the truck, hugged her and said, "I love you." A large man then got out of the car and grabbed her.

"She tried to break free from the male by scratching and kicking him, but she was not able to get away," a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court states.

They put her in the back of the car, and she said she saw her father walk up to a "skinny" man, who handed him a small packet.

"My daddy sold me for crack" the teen told police. The two men then drove off with her in the back, leaving her father. She told police she tried the doors but couldn't unlock them. She also tried to call her mother by cell phone, but one of the men took her phone.

They drove her to a parking lot, where she said she was sexually assaulted by both men.

"She tried to get away from both males, but in order to control her they would hit her in the face and head," the complaint reads.

At one point, she was knocked unconscious. When she woke up, she was lying behind a garbage bin with her shirt off and jacket torn, the complaint reads. Still dazed, she walked toward her home where she made contact with a neighbor, who got in touch with the teen's mother. Her mother called police.

The girl, whose face was swollen, agreed to a medical exam. Investigators noted the word "bitch" was written on both of her arms. The complaint did not give further details.

Police spokesman Arbogast said Monday that detectives had worked through the weekend on the case and were following any leads that might identify the two men.

He said he'd known of many cases in which parents had acted irresponsibly toward their children. But this one, he said, is particularly appalling "with not only the physical damage that they exposed their child to, (but) the psychological impact that something like this would have for years to come, if not their entire life."

The girl's father is charged with sexual exploitation of children by prostitution, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

He remained in the Metropolitan Detention Center on Monday. Bond is set at $200,000 cash or surety.

What don't you people understand about underage children, initiating force for the crime of kidnapping, initiation of force for assault, initiation of force for rape...

or are you just trolling for flames here?

Don't take this the wrong way, but your post is eleven shades of stupid. It's not the dumbest thing I've ever read; but it's pretty close. I would suggest a trip to the library before your next dissertation on libertarianism. You'd appear much less stupid if you actually read up on the subject. About the only thing you got right in your post was the spelling.

Did you not read the "{/sarcasm}" tag at the end of my post, or are you just trolling for flames?

Then you should also be aware that the major difference between the gun banners and the drug banners is their degree of success in enacting policy, and that there is no substantial difference of philosophy between the two prohibitions.

is the key behind 'many' crimes

You wouldn't by any chance be related to Katy Couric, would you?

The writing of the B-word on both the arms got my B.S. meter raised a little bit. Sure, sick people have done stuff like that. But it reminds me of Tawana Brawley painting epithets on herself. It just sounds a little overdone. The story may very well be true. But I'm going to wait for more details before denouncing this guy.

Same here. It seems like most of the time, when somebody has epithets written on them, it turns out to be a phony case.

The white slavery part was the crime with a victim.

I did not see any reference to the race of the victim...

Surely such a crime calls for capital punishment.
Give him a fair trial and a fast hanging.

Do you know people who are addicted to mind altering, mood altering "guns"?

Don't ask my wife that question.

Mr. "drugs are the key behind so many crimes"?

I never said that, and certainly don't take that position. I could care less if drugs are legalized but on the same note, I don't buy the argument that making drugs legal and cheap will solve the problem.

As for the 'Katy Couric' remark, I was joking, I thought it was pretty funny.

"White slavery" is the term for sexual slavery. It has nothing to do with race as far as I know.

I noticed the sarcasm tag, and figured you were sarcastic about drug use being a "victimless crime".

Kidnapping, assault, and rape are not victimless like the drug use.

Your post was confusing to say the least. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

regards...

You wrote:
Imagine how this story would read if libertarians ruled:

Legalize drugs.
Legalize prostitution.
Legal age of consent is voided.
No gov't intervention in any activity.
No Judeo-Christian moral absolutes.
OK, well I'll go ahead and answer this: Legalize drugs.

Instead of needing $100 for his cocaine or heroin habit Junkie Dad can buy a weeks supply for $10 at the pharmacy, just like generic aspirin. He gets his $10 bucks recycling cans, like most winos today.

Legalize prostitution.
Mr. Freak Dealer, now in another line of work, goes to the local licensed brothel to have sex with a willing seller.

Legal age of consent is voided.
I've never heard this suggested by any libertarian think tank, the LP, or any candidate for Pres. running as a L. So this is a weak straw man. However, even so it is meaningless. The victim was not consenting, thus even if this were changed the act described would be rape.

No Judeo-Christian moral absolutes.
Again, not a part of any Libertarian platform I've ever seen. And again, what does it have to do with the story. I bet you $10 if you asked the three perps involved what their religion is they would all say "Christian". In Portland we are in the death penalty phase trial of a rapist / killer. His dad is a minister. Adherence to Judeo-Christian moral absolutes usually doesn't work for criminals, despite the fact that most of them claim to. Libertarianism is a political philosophy, not a religous ones. Libertarians strongly agree with many Judeo Christian absolutes such as "though shalt not kill" and "though shalt not steal". They would not agree with laws supporting "though shalt keep the sabath holy". I believe one can reasonably argue how much of a specific moral code should be turned into law in a secular republic without throwing laws against rape, kidnapping and murder out the window. I believe one can be a strong a Christian and a Libertarian at the same time, I know some.

In summary your characature is just that.
