smartarse... heh heh...
After you last post or two to me, I did a little lookin around. Seems to be lotsa these 'zot the thread' or 'pleading with the moderators to pull' other people's posts.
of course, I don't have a source for that "statement" either.
apparently some folks think they are the stars in an upcoming episode of 'survivor' and are trying to vote others 'off the island,' like their favorite TV program.
We can call this "Freeper Island: boots the Mole" or something like that. Maybe we could even tie in a fundraiser too?
I wonder if anyone here has yet contacted comcast to find out?

Troll?
Now the burden is on you to prove otherwise.

There's a deal from an outfit called Allsat that is out of this world. Satellite TV, 4 receivers, 2 Tivo units, all for $49 installed. After that, you pay whatever the satellite network charges, but it's less than cable. I pay $44 for a good package with 3 receivers and TIVO. Cable would be about $10 more in this area. And once you've had TIVO, you will never go back.

I called comcast earlier.
WHAT they are telling me at this point is they do not know of any change in the channel lineup for their basic package that involves Fox News.
That is in the Pacific Northwest... fwiw.
Regionally however, that still does not rule it out in other parts of the country. PLUS the customer service rep, did not affirm that such a change was impossible.
Not exactly an official denial...
we shall see, come march 1.

I called the company that makes A-1 Steak Sauce. They said not to use it on anything other than steak.
Their response was a little technical for me but the jist of it is it will make you go mad.
I'm going to call them back and ask them about ground beef.
It is just loose steak.
To: Stonenots
Hey, maybe they'll give you HBO in your basic package to replace it. Then you can watch 48 Hours w/ Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte three times a week!
To: Stonenots
This stinks.

WHAT??
They better not do that here!!!!!
To: Fierce Allegiance
Why? Why would this newbie deserve a Zot? Because they brought news we didn't like? Good grief...
Lets calm down a tad! How about a welcome and a THANKS for the information response first?
To: Stonenots
Bastards!
Now I'm not so upset I let my cable service go, to save money.
They do need a massive phone call barrage, though....

Considering the third response to his post, I wouldn't have responded to any replies to this thread either!
He was basically called a "disruptor" repeatedly afterwards. Nice welcome if he wasn't!

P.S. My curse was not directed towards you, BTW. Sorry if I gave that impression. Welcome to FR. A word of caution... watch out for cats around here. They have sharp claws and are entirely unpredictable.

I have had comcast for 3 or so years, and always had to pay for extra service to get Fox. When CommieCast FINALLY added FNC to our line-up a few years ago; they told us that FNC would be added to the PREMIUM package, and that we would have to pay an EXTRA $10 for it. I marched right down to my local ComCast office, got right in their face, and went off like a roman candle: "Why the h*ll was EVERY OTHER news channel part of the basic line-up, but FNC was being relegated to premium service?" I'd been waiting a while for FNC, but d*mned if I was paying extra for it. Got all the customers in the office angry, as well. The women in there practically wet their pants. The Day finally arrived...FNC debuted, and it was on BASIC! Gee...wonder why they changed their minds? :-)

Tell Comcast to pound sand. Get DirecTV or Dish Network for better quality, lower price, and FOX in the basic package. Absolutely! Direct TV with Direct Tivo and/or High Def. All digital, all the time. This is television nirvana. I will NEVER use cable again (and yes, I have cable in my yard, where hopefully it will rot).

I think I can get headline news or something here on just basic, but to get the rest, you have to go to the step up. And I tell them why I pay extra (moved and transfered my service a few times, on my 4th move in 2 years in this area.. but hopefully settling down for awhile). I want Fox News... I can do without the rest, but I need Fox. But there are added benefits, like I posted before. USA has really improved their programming.

I am getting 1.41MBps out of a possible 1.5 MBps for $30/month. It would be nice to have 3 MBps, but don't you have to share bandwidth with your neighbors if they get cable internet too? My 1.41 Mbps is mine, all mine! (/evil laugh)
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
agree
To: Boss_Jim_Gettys
It's shared, but it's not the 1 MBps that shared - it's the bigger pipe. The 1 MBps is a cap they artificially put on each end point so one user doesn't hog the whole thing. That's why they can just up it to 3 MBps - apparently utilization is low enough compared to the bandwidth available that they have determined its feasible to do that.
I just got home and ran a test, which I hadn't done for a while, and found that I have been upgraded! I'm getting between 2.7 Mbps and 2.8 Mbps consistently. Cool!
There are hackers who get into "uncapping" their cable modem, but I think the cable companies have become good at detecting them and shutting them down.
To: Mannaggia l'America
I am running in the 2+MBps range on my cable, for the $40 a month. It rocks. No comparison to anything else I have ever used.
