Isn't Tempest used to detect CRT emissions and demodulate them so that you can remotely view the display? If so, then wouldn't LCD technology eliminate the risk of Tempest detection?

Tempest equipment is shielded to prevent RF emissions of data signals that could be covertly intercepted. It is more than just the fabled CRT emissions.

Thank you, that doesn't surprise me. I've always heard Tempest explained only in terms of CRT monitors, but I have a ham radio and I can tell you that my PCs splatter RF all over the spectrum. No wonder useful data can be extracted from it.
