Some military were getting rabies shots this week. I don't know why. And I don't know how widespread. Nobody got rabies shots when I was in (of course, that was a very long time ago).

Maybe because they are going into Africa or someplace, where rabies is quite prevalent?

Aren't rabies shots extremely painful? It was, I believel, five doses into a muscle over a one month period. Not something that sounds like much fun to go through.
