this is an example where the "hidden nuke" argument breaks down. if they had these things, they could certainly spare one for use in Israel, right? Instead, the threats and the attacks are bus bombs, car bombs, etc.

That really doesn't make sense because of the geography. Israel is a very narrow country. Directly to the east of the Israeli cities, you'll find large populations of Arabs. Not only would the land be uninhabitable (and land is scarce there), the water supplies would be contaminated, and water is a very scarce resource in the middle east. Then again the Arab populations would be right in the fallout patterns. It wouldn't even make sense. Besides, Jerusalem is the third holiest site in Islam. They aren't going to nuke Jerusalem.
Add to all this the simple fact that if you detonate a nuke on Israel there is not going to be any attempt by the US to restrain Israel. Anyone who nukes Israel might as well commit suicide. The Israeli response will be that swift and effective.
