It's very surprising to me that these sniper stories are just glossed over in the news?!?

The gun grabbers are busy laying one anti-gun amendment after the next on top of Larry Craig's S1805. Craig's bill was intended to shield the gun manufacturer's from liability lawsuits. Now, Barbara Boxer has an amendment tacked on to require sales of "approved" gun locks with penalties of $2500 and potential loss of an FFL license if the dealer fails to sell an approved lock. Kennedy is trying to ban centerfire ammunition that has the ability to pierce a law enforcement bullet proof vest. That is essentially ALL centerfire ammo. Certainly all rifle cartridges. Lots of special amendments to exempt existing liability lawsuits are being offered. Craig himself offered an amendment to "study" armor piercing ammo. A few looney senators want amendment to extend unemployment benefits. The leftists are having a good time. They don't want anyone to hear about this. Shhh! No gun stories right now.

I know this is a little OT, but your post reminded me of it. Last night I watched Runaway Jury. I didn't know anything about it before I watched, other than it was a thiller. I don't think a movie has ever made me so angry before. That was the biggest piece of propaganda BS I have ever seen come out of Hollywood. They try to make the firearms industry look like a shady wing of the VRWC with limitless funds to buy off juries, investigate people, and ruin their lives. Of course, the gun banners are next to saintly. I can't even begin to express how mad this movie made me. If you care about firearms at all, do yourself and favor and don't watch this movie if you haven't already. Your blood pressure won't go through the roof like mine did.

Makes sense, but they won't be able to keep things quiet much longer if these sniper attacks continue.
