where is a good place to buy a ham transciever ? I am thinking of joining a local club.

Have a look at the website for Ham Radio Outlet. When you find something that piques your interest, do some competitive price shopping to make sure you are getting a fair deal. If you are on a budget, you can look for a local ham shop. It is common for hams to offer used equipment on the shop bulletin board (cork board). Look for announcements of ham flea markets as well. If you buy at a flea market, you should insist that the seller demonstrate proper functioning of the equipment.

Will do. I don't know of any ham shops arround. The club may have what you say. I would not want to get stuck with anyones junk because they see a chance to take advantage of a new guy. I don't think most of these people would be like that though.
I will look for the website on google.

Thanks.
