February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

And recall, the AQ's stated quite a number of times that the victims would be blind. Viewing a nuke explosion could be blinding, but possibly this eye infection could be as well. Just thinking out loud.

When we buy our food at the grocery store, we virtually have no clue who prepared the food we bought that was bottled, packaged or prepared for us. Those who prepare our food at restaurants are usually "behind the scene" and many are of foreign extraction.

Mamadearest...that post screamed to be posted again, especially the last sentence. If we saw some of these people in public, we wouldn't let them place their hands on our fried chicken picnic in front of our own eyes, but we allow them intimate physical contact with our food out of sight. Good thing I'm a good cook.

Was any of the wahabist chatter about the "dog disease" WMD focused on military or was it a nonspecific?

My recollection is that it was non-specific. I'll do some checking.

I THOUGHT something was incongruent here.

Police said the man 's body was discovered by the Coast Guard floating in the river near the Roseton power plant. He was in full scuba gear.

Who started the rumor he had no SCUBA gear on? It was originally reported he was in full gear as well. This from the Underwater Times.

p.s. He may have not had on a wet suit, but he definitely had SCUBA gear on.

This key difference in the case of bioterrorism is that we will have huge numbers of casualties in short order instead of the occasional "oops".

Based on what I've read an initial act of bioterrorism may be misdiagnosed until it is "figured out" by volume of victims, cultures, tests, etc. By then victims of the initial episode may have developed more serious symptoms.

"Which infection?"

==

Well, it could be anything from the plague to smallpox, to... conjunctivitis, which would disrupt the military readiness???

Eye infection misses U.S. bases in Germany (6 German Army bases closed due to virus -- UPDATE)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1092925/posts

A severe outbreak of a viral eye infection has forced the closure of six German army bases, but German soldiers guarding U.S. bases haven’t been affected, U.S. military officials said.

This particular strain of conjunctivitis cannot be treated with drugs. German army officials hope that a three-week closure will allow base facilities to be thoroughly disinfected and the virus will soon die out.

A similar outbreak occurred in 2001, forcing the temporary closure of a base in Wildeshausen in northern Germany. The virus, which infected 130 soldiers, died out several weeks later.

It is unclear how this virus has spread so quickly, Schmidt said.

I posted this earlier, but it was easier to repost the info, than to find my earlier post.

The only recent paralysis of body muscles noted recently in volume was that of the elk in Rawlins, Wyoming.

The Florida diver is the one who had a wetsuit on, but no gear.

Now I'm wondering if the divers, as you suggested, quickly removed the gear to surface quickly... and if we could send our own divers to search for the equipment.

You might, on a great stroke of luck, find tanks, if you knew exactly where they dropped them and the current wasn't strong enough to move them. I doubt it though. A weight belt would be next to impossible to find. >

I'm really a rank amateur in comparison to most I know that dive. I have around 100 dives in shallow water (< 60 ft depth). But one of the basics you learn in any diving class is how to get to the surface, FAST!!! ;)

Sorry gang, but my tin foil is on thick and i am still getting some strange thoughts, while searching for Calpernia's Falcon.

You want a terrorist message, well read this one and tell me that it is a lovely chapter from the quraan.

Surah 54, The Moon

The moon is due to be full, maybe was a day or so ago.

In 'my community', there are lists of meetings, the headings say in 2003, but if you read the article, it says 2004.

"how to get to the surface, FAST!!! "

So, just hypothetically, the 2 deceased divers abandoned their gear to quickly surface. The water was not deep enough to worry about decompression. Yet they both died under "suspicious circumstance."

Do you know if there are water intake valves in the Hudson near the Indian Point reactor? Or are their other intake valves to important sources of water?
