February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

"We are still at war," Tenet said at an annual Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on worldwide threats. Al Qaeda remained committed to attacking the United States and its allies, he added.

"Across the operational spectrum -- air, maritime, special weapons -- we have time and again uncovered plots that are chilling," Tenet said. "

"On aircraft plots alone, we have uncovered new plans to recruit pilots and to evade new security measures in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe," Tenet said at a hearing of the Senate Intelligence Committee on national security threats.

Tenet warned al-Qaeda remained committed to launching devastating assaults on US interests.

I saw something strange too, today, in Richmond. I usually dont take notice of things like this because I am too busy and military planes are flying all over Virginia, but this was different.

I was out in the parking lot at work, and two fully loaded F-16's with 4 AAM's under the wings flew over the city and circled back to the north.

Most of the time I see them they fly "slick" without AAM's slung under the wings when they are on training missions.

In Spain, the director of the Guardia Civil, Santiago López Valdeivielso, has announced that the operation in which two al-Qaida members were detained in Murcia and Cartagena is still in progress.

In Spain, the director of the Guardia Civil, Santiago López Valdivielso, announced today that the operation that resulted in the apprehension of two alleged members of the al-Qaida network is not yet finished, and that he does not rule out new arrests or that these arrests will lead to a new line of investigation.

Valdivielso stated that the Spanish Guardia Civil is working together in its investigations with members of United States and French security agencies.

He reported that, in addition to the considerable amount of money and material for counterfeiting documents seized from the arrested individuals, they were found to have political propaganda videos from the terrorist network.

Valdivielso noted that two of those arrested, Khaled Madani and Moussa Laouar, were thought to belong to the financing and counterfeit document apparatus provided for al-Qaida members, and that both of them provided some of the material authors of the 9/11 attacks with the identities that let them move freely in the United States.

I'm inclined to take this threat very seriously.

Just came across a post by Sean on the anomalies bulletin board. He wrote that he will be updating NEIN very soon. I wish he'd post his info here on FR. Basically, he was saying that the arabic interpreters are telling him that the attacks will be launched between 72 hours from today and February 29th. He said that "explosions" are mentioned, but no locations noted.

Ohio Airport Worker Killed After Jetway Tire Explodes
Man Was Repairing Tire

TOLEDO, Ohio -- A worker at Toledo Express Airport died after a jetway tire he was repairing exploded.

The man had removed the tire from a jetway and had taken it to a maintenance building early Monday.

The Lucas County Coroner's Office said it appears he was standing on the tire, trying to remove the tire from the rim when it exploded. Deputy Coroner Diane Barnett said the force of the explosion knocked the man backward. The rim struck him in the neck, then continued upward, hitting a garage door that was 20 feet overhead.

No one else was hurt.

The state Commerce Department is investigating the accident. A spokesman said it will probably be at least a week before a report is available.
