Well you have good feelings and I share those same good feelings with you, too. That is my opinion, also.

"The official announcement of OBL's capture could cause the jihadis to go off of the deep end."

Substitute the word "could" with the word "will" and I'm in complete agreement with you.

It's not too hard to believe that there are cells with suicide missions if OBL is captured or killed.

I agree. That's a worry we've had....and prepared for. I've wondered if that's why al-Zawahiri released those tapes....as signals to cells to be ready if OBL is caught. I figure he knows how close our troops are.

That's one reason I'm following this right now. Since AP is carrying the story now, there may be something to it. Who knows? But if there is, I'm waking hubby up so we can be ready to do whatever may be needed for last minute readiness. :-)

"25 held in Pakistan al Qaeda raid"

Tuesday, February 24, 2004 Posted: 10:09 PM EST (0309 GMT)

"Paramilitary forces man a newly set up post near the Pakistani town of Wana near the Afghan border".

"U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld acknowledges Pakistan's efforts to track down Osama bin Laden."

"CIA Director George Tenet and FBI Director Robert Mueller tell a congressional panel that al Qaeda remains a threat."

"New U.S. push to find Osama bin Laden in Afghan border region"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- Pakistani military forces, using helicopters and heavy artillery, have detained at least 25 people during raids in a remote border region where al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Omar are believed to have sought refuge.

It is not clear if any senior Taliban or al Qaeda figures were apprehended, though foreigners were arrested and weapons, ammunition, passports, documents seized, Pakistani military officials said.

The sweep followed a warning to tribal leaders to hand over foreign suspects reportedly in the South Waziristan region near the border with Afghanistan.

The operation was launched after tribal authorities didn't give up the suspects, the officials said."

Yep, I caught that. I'm still following that thread.

Following this one, too, as I have since day one. This one has been a wealth of info, no doubt.

*sigh* It was nice to hope but with DOD denying the report, I guess it didn't pan out. One of these days, though, we'll get the news for real.

Off to bed. Now that the adrenaline isn't flowing, the ol' bum back is telling me I've overdone it. LOL!

Have a great day everyone!

I hear you, I'm barely keeping my eyes open. I was just about ready to go to bed, but I saw that comment from Gigantor about his source being different, so I stayed up. I'll probably nap with the TV on just in case. :)

Fight breaks out:

11 Killed in Shooting Near Afghan Border

By AHSANULLAH WAZIR, Associated Press Writer

WANA, Pakistan - Pakistani forces killed 11 people in an exchange of fire after a minibus failed to stop at a roadblock in a tribal region where anti-terrorism operations have been ongoing, the army spokesman told The Associated Press.

The shooting occurred early Saturday, the morning after armed men and soldiers exchanged fire at a military compound in the region. Pakistani forces have been carrying out a sweep for terrorist suspects in the area, believed to be a possible hiding place for al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden (news - web sites).

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040228/ap_on_re_as/pakistan_border_operations&cid=516&ncid=716

Then Rumors of OBL being caught at the Pakistani border are denied:

U.S. Denies Report of Bin Laden's Capture
8 minutes ago

By ALI AKBAR DAREINI, Associated Press Writer

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's state radio, quoting an unnamed source, said Saturday that Osama bin Laden (news - web sites) was captured in Pakistan "a long time ago." U.S. and Pakistani officials denied the report.

The report said that U.S. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's visit to the region this week was in connection with the arrest. In Washington, a U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, denied early Saturday that bin Laden was captured.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040228/ap_on_re_mi_ea/bin_laden&cid=540&ncid=716

Now Sean said all this around the Holidays and he could not have then been caught today. I'm starting to believe Pakistan has had him, which makes Sean only wrong on the geography of Iran having him, but if we do have him Sean knew something.

I think the lies of his not being captured are for good reasons then just MO

Pros: We heard similar denials and rumors before Saddam was captured.

Cons: This is coming from Iran's official news agency.

I would sure like to hear from another source.
