It is apparently true that a member of the general public may have used one or more of your images to create what appears to be a satirical political parody on presidential candidate John Kerry's anti-war record and his apparent relationship with Jane Fonda.
Jim, you've identified the most essential element in all this. Even if there is some obligation on your part for pictures linked to your site (and I don't think there is) the fact that these are political parodies allows for a fair use. It's no different than the Bill Clinton parody songs Rush Limbaugh plays on his show.

It's allowable to make a parody *of* almost anything, but that's not the same as being allowed to make a parody *using* someone's copyrighted material as a foundation.
