The only thing Hollywood respects is money. This movie is going to make a pile of it.
Mel Gibson isn't going to have to worry about getting someone to finance or distribute any movie he wants to make ever again.

Mel Gibson isn't going to have to worry about getting someone to finance or distribute any movie he wants to make ever again. So right. As long as his movies make money he will find plenty of people to finance them and plenty of actors to act in them.

Only if that were true. Only if it were true. . .

I'm hoping he uses the money and starts his own studio that makes religious and family films.

The only thing Hollywood respects is money. This movie is going to make a pile of it. I fully concur. However, the use of the word "respects" is probably more reflective of your politeness, then a true indicator of how Hollywood really feels about money.
I will also volunteer to take this a bit further:
"Passion" will be nominated for 5-7 academy awards, though it may not win any.
The reason I think this, is an extension of your thoughts. Hollywood knows they are in trouble in many ways and are losing audience attention and respect. This movie will get more people into the theaters, in a very short time frame, then any movie has in a long time. Hollywood will feel that they need to do something to improve their image and will throw this movie a few bones of respect, by giving it some nominations.

Mel Gibson isn't going to have to worry about getting someone to finance or distribute any movie he wants to make ever again. If a producer has someone else finance a film, that person will expect a big chunk of the profits. If the producer finances the film himself, he keeps the money (well, whatever portion Uncle doesn't steal).
I have a very strong suspicion that this movie is going to make more money for Mel Gibson than any previous movie has made for an individual producer.

The only thing Hollywood respects is money. Nope. Most of Hollywood despised Titanic, which is the largest grossing film of all time. Most of Hollywood despised James Cameron for his outrageous financial success with Titanic.
Hollywood does not respect money. Instead, Hollywood respects nothing.

The only thing Hollywood respects is money. This movie is going to make a pile of it. This film will end up being one of the 10 highest-grossing films of all time.

I wonder just how true that is? Yes they do love money, but they also love to get awards, and get nice things said about them from their peers.
This movie is going to make a pile of it.
