Does the thought of tropical islands, shimmering bays, powdery white beaches, warm azure waters, towering green hills, languorous climate, unsurpassed shopping and enjoying fine food for an entire week turn you on?
The Free Republic Network (FRN) is sponsoring a seven-day Caribbean cruise on Holland America's "Zuiderdam" from May 22-29 - and you're invited to join this tropical getaway.
The ship departs Ft. Lauderdale with stops at the alluring islands of Tortola, St. Thomas and Nassau. We'll also visit the cruise line's own private Caribbean island, Half Moon Cay, for a day of waters sports, a fabulous luau buffet, steel bands, volleyball, or just lounging and yakking on the cay's beautiful crescent-shaped, white-sand beach.
FRN has obtained favorable group rates for this cruise. Cabin fares start at only $619 per person (plus tax and port fees) for the entire week of cruising. There are cabin categories to satisfy all budget requirements. The fare includes accomodations, Broadway-type entertainment, all meals, a complimentary cocktail party just for our group, plus all the amenities this premier cruise line has to offer for a fabulous (and pampering) voyage.
If you register now, there's a $25 to $50 per person shipboard credit depending on accommodations selected. Also, for a very limited time, cruisers who reserve an outside cabin can upgrade to a verandah cabin at no extra charge. Think room service breakfast and hot coffee on your own balcony while viewing a tropical sunrise and white-capped, gently rolling waves below.
Cruise Chairperson, Leni Riedy, says "The Free Republic Network has organized a low-cost event with none of the expensive speakers and highly-structured seminars and workshops you see on other conservative-sponsored cruises. The result is an affordable, laid-back cruise where like-minded conservatives can meet and mingle, exchange ideas and opinions, and have loads of fun and great tropical experiences at the same time.
"We'll have one morning meeting during one of the "at sea" days" Riedy added, " It'll be an informative, lively, participatory program on successful conservative activism. These types of programs are always highly popular." Conservative friends, couples, singles, families - if you've ever dreamed of inexpensively cruising the breathtaking vistas and ports of the historic Spanish Main, here's your golden opportunity. DARN! I wish I could.
The problem is $$$!
We're saving for a house, and I'm going to be in a golf tournament in June.
Then we're on vacation in the 1st part of July.
I wish I had some rich relatives. :(

Maybe you'll make a hole in one and win a nice cash prize so you can go.

I won't know anyone on the boat. Should I still go? Will my fellow conservatives be willing to engage a stranger in conversation? I'd hate to go and then find no one to talk to for a week. But a cruise--mighty tempting...
To: Our man in washington
Don't see that Bob J was able to get back to you but I can answer this one. I was a frequent lurker, rarely posted, and my husband and I, along with another couple from work all went on the last FReeper cruise. I knew absolutely no one from FR before the cruise, but we all had a blast, even the non-FReepers of the group. Everyone was very friendly, and there was always a gathering or two going on. Many of us went on a port excursion together and had a blast. We had cruise before, many years ago, and was delighted to have the chance to get a great rate on a balcony cabin by booking with the FR group. We enjoyed it so much, my hubby and I are going again.
If you can swing it, I would say to go for it! As someone once said, "Even a bad day at sea is better than the best day at work!!"
