WOMEN’S GROUPS SQUARE OFF ON MOTHER’S DAY OVER GUN RIGHTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Lakeway, Texas (February 23, 2004) – The Second Amendment Sisters (SAS) will be standing up for the right of women to defend themselves on Sunday, May 9, 2004, in Washington, D.C. The people’s God-given right to keep and bear arms, as articulated in the Second Amendment to the Constitution, is being assaulted on a daily basis by well-funded gun grabbing organizations.

As announced in December, the SAS event is called Second Amendment Freedoms for Everyone Rally (S.A.F.E.R.). It should come as no surprise that the so-called “Million” Mom March organization (MMM) has now announced plans to hold a rally in Washington, D.C., at the same time. The S.A.F.E.R. event is being held at Freedom Plaza, which is on East Pennsylvania Avenue, between 13th and 14th Streets.

Second Amendment Sisters is a true grassroots organization, made up of volunteers who are working tirelessly to preserve the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves.

The so-called MMM event, funded in part by Essence magazine, is hiding their gun ban agenda under the guise of “Child Safety.” The MMMs state that “almost 14,000” American children have died from gun violence since the first time the two groups squared off in 2000. Their statistics are padded by using the term “children” to include people as old as 21 years, many of whom died while involved in criminal activity.

90% of all violent crime takes place without the presence of a gun. Further, armed citizens prevent over 2 million crimes per year. The Second Amendment Sisters will once again stand for the right of millions of law abiding Americans to protect themselves.

I was at the first "AIM." I remember telling my husband to stay close to our 13 year old daughter (for her protection) from the MMM. It was necessary. Some of them got pretty nasty as I recall.
