"I really love that show, too. Some funny and ingenious stuff."

what i really love is the interplay between Paul Sr. and Jr. Dad comes in and carries on, and paul jr. puts up with him until he leaves... and then gets back to work.

Yeah, and I can already see that Jr. will be just like Sr. in about 20 more years. Great show.

I seem to remember a Flight Sim out a few years back based on the Comanche

I think your confusing it with the Hornet and Super-Hornet.

The Super Hornet is longer, more wing area and its engines are 1/3 more powerful... its also a bit stealthier...

Isn't Tom Daschle's wife a Boeing lobbyist? He must be deeply saddened.

I think a next generation replacement for the A-10 would be a better investment than a new helicopter. The A-10 is much more survivable than the helicoptors with which it shares the antitank role.

More likely: the USAF will kill the A-10 and replace it with part-time A/F-16s. Then the Army will have to join the Marines in developing a next-generation AV-8C

Darn, it looked so cool!!

Well, there are going to be some Stryker crews who were counting on it for helo support who will now be own their own with a .50 caliber machinegun against tanks. Ooops.

That wasn't me who made that comment. I made the comment on the F-16 being stretched (?) maybe you got the two mixed up?

Maybe we can have the M1's support the Strykers, sort of like the BF109s had to support the BF110's </ sarcsm>

My copy and paste didn't copy your comment.

But the Super Hornet is a bigger and better version of the original Hornet. And longer.

Many Hornet drivers would disagree. The SH has better avionics, stealth and carries more gas, but it is slower, less maneuverable and has some questionable flight characteristics that the C-D model Hornets don't have to deal with.

I'm told 4 Eagles against a single F-22 is not a fair fight

Why do I get the feeling tests like that have the F-22 with the HCMS/AIM-9X and the Eagles with AIM-9M.

Or maybe it was just a Navy guy in the F-22 with your average two circle Air Force pukes in the Eagles.

everything I read about it says the original was under-powered and thats why the Super Hornet was born...

Be nice. AF likes their two-circle, cause it makes pretty contrail pictures. They dont like reversals or verticals because they hurt their necks.

The Hornet IS underpowered. The SuperHornet to an even larger degree. Except for the Tomcat-D, every Navy jet for the past 40 years has been underpowered.

Take half of the money saved and build more smart bombs, MOABS and of course, thousands of next-generation cruise missles. .... not to mention, armed UAVs for recon.

Incredible: $8 billion and not a single production weapon. Only in America. Only in Govt.

May I ask your opinions on the Apache? Was not such copters designed to ambush Russian tank columns in Germany from tree covers and they were not meant to function as offensive insertion weapons? That their mission was transformed from defensivce to offensive after the end of the cold war? The Russian never used copters for offensive capabilities in Afghanistan - only to transport troops with protection.

Did a West Point Cadet steal Rumsfeld's girlfriend when he was in the Navy?

Crusader - GONE! (Thomas White quit over it too)

Commanche - (R.I.P.)

Tells every serving 4-Star General in the Army that they aren't good enough to kiss his ring as CSA and brings in a retired general to be CofS

Was going to cut 2 more divisions from the Army prior to 9/11

Has stood in the way of every effort (including bi-partisian ones) to increase troop strength to cope with the continuing deployments.

Why does Rummy hate those of us in the Army so much?

"streamlining the military into smaller and supposedly more easily deployable units."

They have that already...it's called The Marines

IMHO trying to turn the Army into smaller faster lighter is BIG mistake. Our job has always been to occupy large amounts of land and blow things up. You can't hold large chunks of land in enemy territory with a UAV!

And juggling the numbers to make Brigades look bigger than what they are (i.e. more but smaller battalions) won't solve the problems we currently face with regards to not enough troops for the deployments.
