The Democrats worry President Bush could cut deeply enough into the large Hispanic vote to guarantee his re-election. So much so that, earlier this month, party strategists voiced such concerns behind closed doors at a congressional retreat in the Virginia mountains.

"This country is more divided than it ever was.Ridiculous."

That's right, and that's what the Left intended. The Left was 100% behind the destruction of the individual and the creation of the group; in other words, a person's only worth is his or her asscoiation with or attachment to a specific group (racial, ethnic, sexual, etc.). The Left knew that in order to control the masses, it had to erase individualism. The Left knew that it was far easier to influence and control a static, identifiable group then it was to dominate a free-thinking individual. We are seeing the harvest of Leftist ideology taking root in our beloved Republic. If we don't reverse this trend soon, it will be too late.

"You're witnessing the Balkanization of America.
It's caused by multiculturalism, diversity and immigration.
Most of the people coming here are from socialist and communist nations. They're not coming from some place like the United States. There is no place like the United States. And, now, the United States is no longer united."

You are 100% correct, my friend.

"There are plenty of gringos (and non-gringos too) that I would happily send to Mexico in exchange for my hard-working, honest, family-oriented, conservative Mexican landscaping contractor. He came here with nothing and now runs a thriving business."

But wherein lies his allegiance? To Mexico or the United States? If he came here legally and his first loyalty is to the U.S., then all I can say to him is WELCOME! and God Bless You!

Porterville: I don't think anyone has any problem whatsoever with legal immigration, be it from Mexico, Latin America, Sweden, Korea, or wherever. My mother was a legal immigrant, who followed all the rules, jumped through all the hoops, etc., and became an American citizen. Her loyalty thus was -- and is -- to America, not to her country of birth. And she is a proud American to this very day (she is approchaing her 80th birthday). Many of us do, however, have a great deal of anger and resentment towards folks who come here illegaly, thus flaunting our laws, sucking up our resources, and in general contributing little if anything towards a better America; moreover, their allegiance is NOT to America. I have nothing at all against "American Hispanics," which I take to mean Americans whose cultural roots were from Spanish-speaking countries. As long as they are legal citizens, and their loyalty is to America and not to the conutry of their ancestors, then I say GLAD TO HAVE YOU HERE and GOD BLESS YOU! If their loyalty is to their ancestral homeland, at the expense of America, then I say GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!

You wrote a string of syllable looking for a grouping of phonemes to grasp in order to express your lack of understanding about the 36 million American Hispanics.

I suppose then you possess the correct understanding of all 36M Hispanics living in America?

If you don't agree with what I said then tell me why you think I am wrong.
All knowing one.

Another group that is constantly being pandered to are the elderly.

I am a member of the "elderly" group and I'm sick and tired of being lumped into that category.

We aren't all alike,we don't think alike,we don't vote alike,we have different backgrounds and resources, and most of us are doing very well.

Most of the liberal press makes it sound like anyone over 65 is starving to death, needs help with property taxes, and is going without medication etc. These are the same newspapers that,in my area, advertise on Sunday for Retirement communities with a starting price of $400,000 for a townhouse.

They're coming --- just like they're coming in California.

They're in California thanks to upper-class left-wing Americans. You know, "legals". But then, you don't want to deport them I'm sure. Much easier to blame the "illegals" (who vote for the GOP in much greater numbers than the upper-class, left-wingers).

No, I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to the hordes of illegal aliens.

Apparently some people believe that 'hispanic' means some monolithic group --- every middle class white Cuban-American, every Puerto Rican, every Mexican campesino, every Guatemalan Indian, every Spanish descendent of the SW USA, every Colombian and so on thinks exactly alike and some people believe they know exactly what that is.
