"My confidence in the American electorate continues to wane."
Don't get me wrong, after electing Slick Willie twice and almost screwing up '00, too, I'm as cynical as the next dude. I just think that as long as we have the right and the willingness to protest the Status Quo, the Good Guys shall eventually triumph!!
"I had a talk this evening with a couple of yellow dog Dims in an effort to enlighten. They absolutely do not want to hear hard evidence against the dark side nor the gospel according to FGS concerning the good guys. They are unashamedly nanny-staters. How does one combat hard core naivete? Frustrating my man."
I know how to get at folks like that, my FRiend. Concentrate on devolving power from the Federal Leviathan, and back to the States, Localities, and Individuals. Tell 'em our Medicare is all ran by the States anyway, tell 'em we oughtta cut out the Middleman...cut out the Feds. Let's let States decide how to best spend their Medicare Block Grant. I'm serious, even a bunch of Lib'rals I know agree that government is best which is nearest the governed...who needs a Federal Nanny when we can have 50 State Nannies instead?! Thing is, some of those States are gonna be run better than others, and good folks will flee from the poorly-producing ones while converging upon the well-run ones.
LET THE DEBATE BEGIN!!

Nope, that's too deep for most nincompoop redneck, beer-bellied, Wal-Mart shoppin' potential Kerry voters. The first thing I say to these types is: "Oh, you are voting for Kerry? I didn't take you for someone that supports homosexual marriages." Then I watch them slip in their own saliva.
The mindset I see is the farther away, the less "accountability" is required. It's easier to fool the bureaucrats in D.C. than the bureaucrats in, say, Austin. Or worse yet, a locally run dole that will likely be more adept at culling out deadbeats. For example, local churches are really pretty good at separating the wheat from the chaff. But of course the gummint has taken over the role of the church. Damn shame.

To that I would say, your liberals are more conservative than my liberals. The bigger "big brother" is, the better. And besides, from a poll I saw on FR(?) a couple years ago(who knows who or where), something like half the respondents thought the Fed gummint had its own money. They are either totally clueless about governance or, well, totally clueless. Can you imagine half the populace not understanding that taxes are the source of gummint funds? THAT'S scary.

In good time I suppose. It's taken decades, but didn't NY and Kellyfornia, amongst others, just about "welfare" themselves into bankruptcy? And, they've got double trouble now, apparently the (good)people and companies are deserting like rats from a sinking ship. But what of the damage done in the interim???
